Description:

!!!Important update!!

I've always thought we're all here open-minded and kind people. Seems like I was wrong.

Today I've received a letter from a man called Yassen Pavlov smack@vip.bg with the following text:

"I just wanted to let you know that I can't believe what an bitch you are. You asked for the guy who was maintaining the project you abandoned to give you admin rights and you never showed up again since he did so. Not even once... Thank you very much for that. I hope you'll die from cancer."

Well thanks a lot Yassen, this is what I actually need right now being a young mom with a little kid on my hands. See now, I'm here, are you happy?

OK, now to the point. I've switched to MacOS completely and have no platform to develop and test this script. It was a good experience and it was fun. I actually did not ever expected it would be such a success. But now I have to pass it over to somebody who wants to continue this development.
Please contact me jinjiru at jinjiru dot com if you want to take this project to your hands.

Mount ISO Image is an advanced script which allows to perform multiple operations with ISO, NRG (Nero Burning ROM), UDF (DVD), CUE/BIN, CCD/IMG/SUB (CloneCD), XDVDFS (XBOX) and MDF images.
Mount/unmount operations can be performed in two different ways: using kdesu or sudo. During the installation you'll be offered to choose a variant to use.
Note: If you prefer to use sudo, you should first choose to "Setup sudo config" in installation menu.

Translations
------------

If you submit translations, please, send them within the utf-8 text file to prevent encoding mistakes! All non utf translations will not be considered!

Bugs and translations
----
I really need your help with translations and feature requests - please send them pejakm at gmail dot com. If you sent any translations or suggestions some time ago - please resend them!
If you find any errors please do not hesitate to report them. If you have any suggestions or want to contribute in any manner - you're always welcome!

Important Notice!!!

Since this project appears to be abandoned, administrators have gave moderation control over this project to me, pejakm. I intend to continue and to improve this script as good as I can. If the original authors decide to continue their work I will happily give them this back.

No problem. I'm just trying to help, and to do that I need as much as details as you can give.

Apparently, you must run "bash install.sh" if you are using kubuntu. Read here for more details:

Try that, and tell me if it's working.

 Help

by mortan on: Jan 1 2008

Hello!

If I try to mount a ISO file with this script, I get "ERROR: Could not mount "..."! Check your system settings."

The setup script says:
Devices:
* CD drives
+ CD-ROM: /dev/cdrom
* CDEMU nodes
- Node0: >> not found <<

If I try to adjust the device name (menu entry 3) I get

Type the full path to "CD-ROM"
or press "Enter" to continue [/dev/cdrom]:

Couldn't find "CDEMU"!
Type the full path here or "C" to cancel:

Can anybody help me?

OK, here we go:

Maybe you don't have "sudoers" configured. Try this: run the script and run menu entry 5. Then run the script again choosing menu entry 1.

You must type full path to cdemu executabile. If you don't have cdemu installed, then don't run menu entry 3.

Hi!

Ok, I forgot to set up sudo correctly. But if I run the installer, which changes the sudoers file, it's not working too.

By the way, I changed the sudoers file so that only I can mount images without a password:

fabian ALL=(ALL) NOPASSWD: /bin/mount -t udf\,iso9660 -o loop\,ro\,nodev\,noexec\,nosuid\,* */Mount-ISO*,/bin/umount */Mount-ISO*

The problem is, that mounting fails with the error:

Jan 2 15:04:31 [sudo] fabian : command not allowed ; TTY=unknown ; PWD=/home/fabian ; USER=root ; COMMAND=/bin/mount -t udf,iso9660 -o loop,ro,nodev,noexec,nosuid,defaults /mnt/sdb1/Quake III.iso /home/fabian/DesktopMount-ISO (Quake III.iso)

Do you have any advice how to set up the sudoers correctly?

And for the cdemu thing: can you look at this?

Ok, it seems that I'm a bit stupid.

If I install Mount-ISO using
"2 - Install Mount-ISO using kdesu",
kdesu is asking me for a password if I try to mount a ISO file and everything WORKS :)

What do I have to change to make Mount-ISO work with option 1 (sudo)?

jeah :)

Thanks, I will try this later (can't do it right now).

Anyway there is something strange left: cdemu IS installed and accessible from my $PATH variable, so why is the script complaining about it? I've looked into the check_bin function but found nothing that could explain it :-/

 Easier installation

by Musikolo on: Jan 2 2008

Score 50%

Hi guys,

I'm a Yoper ( http://www.yoper.com ) packager and I would like to create a RPM package to install MountISO easily on Yoper. However, I've found many problems during the installing process that prevented me to do so. Our build environment is within a jail having some basic packages and non-root priviledges during the RPM-creation process. Thus, is it essential for us to have some sort of 'install.sh DESTDIR=my_own_preffix_dir' option that would help us to install MountISO. It would also would be really good to have the posibility to pass all chosen options by parameters instead of having to manually type them (this will automate the build task).

- Is there anything of this already implemeted?
- Is there any workaround to deal with these issues?

MountISO looks promissing KDE enhancement since it makes easier for users to deal with many CD/DVD formats. Thanks for such a nice piece of software.

Best regards.

Hi Yoper!

My next goal is to implement such feature (choosable installation prefix). It is not implemente yet, but will be (hopefuly very soon).

So far, there's no workaround this (as far as I know), but to install it and manually collect files.

Please check back later for new versions.

Regards

 New version feature

by Musikolo on: Jan 3 2008

Score 50%

Hi,

thanks for releasing a new version so quickly, I'm impressed in this sense. However, I have a question regarding the next feature:

+ Feature: mountiso.sh is now installed in "$PREFIX/local/bin"

Why did you choose $PREFIX/local/bin rather than $PREFIX/bin?

I think that if 'local' is wanted in the prefix path, it can be added seamlessly, but what if it isn't, as it happens in my case? For RPM builds the PREFIX variable is normally assigned to /usr rather than /usr/local

Sorry for being a bit a pain in the neck, but I think this minor issue can be improved.

Best regards. ;-)

It's no problem, You are not a "pain in the neck". I need user inputs so I can improve the script.

The reason is very simple: I keep it in my computer in /usr/local/bin. It was there during testing.. Originaly I wanted to put the script in /usr/bin, I guess I was just too tired last night to do that. :)

No worries, It will be solved in next version! ;)

Any other comment or suggestion is welcome! :)

Well, hi there.
I'm one of the original authors of this MountISO project. I am HIGHLY surprised that no one even contacted me or Oleg Kourapov (aka 2sheds) about this situation.
Of course, MountISO was licensed under GPL but I don't think that was a good idea to remove my administrator rights for this project. GPL does mean you can use my code but it does not mean you can take my project without asking me.
I'm glad someone decided to continue my project but I think you should have contacted me before.
So would highly appreciate that you return my administrator rights and contact me jinjiru at gmail dot com
Thank you.
