Description:

Jakob Petsovits has kindly taken over maintaining the icon set. Rather than delete this node (which would screw things up for people who still link to this page) I'm just going to say: GO HERE:

http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=23499

Changelog:

2005-04-28:
NEW MAINTAINER, NEW PAGE

2004-12-07: changed some broken links, removed blue PNGs due to lack of hosting space

(changed links for PNG downloads to mirror until I sort out legal problems with the newtolinux domain)

(added crosslink to gnome-look entry)

0.7.1
---
Only a few new icons in this release. The main features are two colourschemes for download, and some changes in icons to bring the KDE set in line with the GNOME set.

0.7
---
Not a huge change. Just lots more application icons, and a few renamed icons to fix missing icon problems. 128x128 icons are now also distributed with the set.

0.6
---
The main focus in this release has been KOffice, OpenOffice, Mozilla, Quanta, Samba, KMix (inc. systray) and other app icons requested. There are also lots of other new icons, and the set is now available with PNGs. I also fixed the problems with some ksystray icons not showing (klipper, kopete, etc.)

0.5
---
Yet more icons ;) Most significantly, K3B and Kontact should be complete. There are also quite a few new action icons, and some more icons for KControl.

I'm working on it ;-)

If there are any icons in particular you want doing, post a list here and I'll prioritise them.

Yes, it's based on Gentoo. The person who started the icon set (whose link is in the description above) did it specifically for Gentoo, though I have tried to provide alternative icons for those who don't use Gentoo.

Ok, I've done all of those icons except some for K3B, which you can't theme (I've filed a bug for K3B). Those icons are the ones used by "Copy CD", "Blank CD" and others.

OK, ignore that, you can theme it, but the icon themes I was using as reference (crystal, reinhardt and Gorilla) either don't, or do it incorrectly, so I was misled. I've now done all the K3B icons... expect them in the next release.

This icon theme is just great! Being a fellow Gentoo and KDE user, I really appreciate your work converting this theme! I have been using it since 0.2 with some minor modifications (icon correction and substitution).

I would really like to help and contribute to this theme... after my final exams are over next month :)

Until then.. Keep up the great work!

PS: Is the "aquap" font free? All I could find about this font was a japanese font (I did not try it...)

The aqua font is free as in beer, I'm not sure how Free the license is. You can get it here:

http://aquablue.milkcafe.to/

Or in gentoo with "emerge aquafont" and/or "emerge aquapfont".

 Generating w/Sodipod

by alcos on: Mar 31 2004

And by the way...

Generating icons with Sodipodi did not work out of the box with "generate.py": no icons would really get created.

This is because Sodipodi uses "-t" for specifying export Height and not "-h" (this is strange since -h is not used in sodipodi).. So just changing -h for -t fixes generation with Sodipodi.

This is with Sodipodi 0.34

I hope this helps!

Ah, thanks for that. I've changed the script, so it will work in the next release.

 error with rsvg

by MaxAuthority on: Apr 4 2004

Score 50%

Hi,
first of all great icon theme as an gentoo and KDE user :)

One bug in the converting utility:
change:
cmd = 'rsvg -w %s -h %s scalable/%s/%s %s' % (app, w, h, d, f, out)
to
cmd = 'rsvg -w %s -h %s scalable/%s/%s %s' % (w, h, d, f, out)
in line 38, and it will work vor rsvg users.

However, I will have to wait, until most of the important kde apps (like JuK and Kopete) are fully supported, but thanks for the style anyway.

OK, I've fixed the rsvg error. Also, I've got all of the icons for Kopete and Juk now, as well as Kontact, K3B and ark. If there are other apps you'd like icons for, please ask, otherwise I just sit around and do odd icons - not very productive :)

Thanks for fixing the script.

however, my icons look much darker than those on the screenshot:
http://stud4.tuwien.ac.at/~e0125672/lila.png

if you look at the folder icons or at the zoom button in the toolbar.
Is this because rsvg converts them badly, or because you made those icons darker?

BTW: by including Kontact icons, does this mean, that in the next release _all_ korganizer, kaddressbook and kmail icons will be there (there are some missing for each of these applications, like all icons in the view menu of korganizer, or the "next unread message" in kmail)?

Hmm, I don't know why your icons look darker. I've not changed the colours at all.

And yes, I have all of those icons in Kontact done, though there may be more that aren't shown by default I'm missing. I'll release the work I've done so far soon, and if there are yet more icons missing, I'll try to accomodate :)
