Description:

I like (read, love so much I wanna burst) OSX's Aqua. But I want KDE to be KDE, not a mock of any other GUI.

So I came up with this combination.

Lately I've been in the habit of putting kicker up top and adding an appropriate sized shadow to the wallpaper with GIMP. Nice effect, no?

I can upload my color scheme, kicker-shadow xcf file, Konsole schemes, etc., if anyone so desires.

Preview is a smaller jpg for modem users. Download link is the fullsize png.

I think Ty means they artificially added the shadow to the panel by drawing it on the wallpaper...
....SWEET idea though...I may have to try that.

 GIMPishness

What I did was measure roughly how big the small size kicker is for my resolution - at 1280x1024, it's somewhere between 25-30 pixels, IIRC. So I opened up GIMP, created a transparent layer, and added a a gradient FG to transparent from 0 to 35 (or something like that) pixels vertically. I then put that layer on top of whatever wallpaper I want to use. It's a little extra effort, but the results are very much worth it. :o)

People more experienced with GIMP than could probably tell you a more efficient way to go about it.

If you want my original shadow xcf file, I can upload it or send it to you.

Cheers,
Ty

Looks good. But what's that window decoration? I don't recognise it at all. And yes, uploading the color scheme would be nice too. :)

 Color scheme....

The window decoration is "Model", and IceWM theme that comes with KDE 2.2.x (I can't remember if it was in 2.1.x or 2.0.x or not). I'd sort of dismissed for the longest time.

As for the color scheme, it's kind of simple: just lighten the default a bit. The window decoration uses it's own colors.
I'm using font "Impact" for the titlebar.

As for the translucent menus, I can't upload a scheme file until I find where TeaX stores it's settings. I loooked for a *teax*rc file, but couldn't find one. Anyone have any ideas? It uses a KControl module, and I'm not sure how KControl stores settings (an XML file somewhere?)

Anyhoo, until then, here's the colors I'm using:

KDisplay colors:
Window backgorund= 232,232,232
Button backgorund= 232,232,232
Select backgorund= 197,131,239

TeaX Menu colors:
Menu = 120,173,206
Text = 230,255,253

As soon as I find all the config files I'll make a tarball with all the schemes and install script, as well as a kicker-shdow how-to.
