Submitted:  Feb 21 2004
Updated:  Apr 29 2004

Description:

Based on Keramik, this style modified GUI parts neatly, and added various custom options.

To Install:

./configure --prefix="`kde-config --prefix`"
make
make install

ldconfig

(Please restart KDE after installation)

Requires:
kde-3.2.0
qt-3.2.3

Changelog:

Ver 3.2.1
(Backport from activeheart-1.2.1)
-Style
*"Surround the taskbar buttons with dark borders" option was added to "Extra Options" group.
*"Disable KMenu Titles" option was added to "Features to disable" group.

Ver 3.2
(Backport from activeheart-1.2)
-Style&Kwin
*The version of Keramik used as a basis was changed to what is contained in KDE-3.2.2.
-Style
*"Remove 'subtract-line' area from 'add-line' button of scrollbar" option was added to "Extra Options".
*The custom color option for the statusbar borders was added to "Border Colors" group in "Custom Colors" category.
*"Flatten the text edit area" option was abolished.
And the text edit area became the same appearance as ActiveHeart's one.

Ver 3.1.5
(Backport from activeheart-1.1.8)
-Style
*Scheme manager can read the global scheme files now.
The global scheme file means the scheme files stored in "$KDEDIR/share/apps/kdisplay/styleconfs" directory.
(This feature is mainly based on Piotr Szymanki's work. And I improved it.)
*The custom color option for the menu separators was added to "Menu Colors" group.
*"Border's thickness of menubar and toolbar follows contrast" option was added to "Extra Options"

Ver 3.1.4
(Backport from activeheart-1.1.7)
-Style
*"Reduce pushbutton size" option was added to "Extra options".

Ver 3.1.3
(Backport from activeheart-1.1.6)
-Style
*Changed the light weight combobox's pulldown buttons thinly.
*"Highlight the active taskbar button with the active tabline color" option was added to "Extra options".

Ver 3.1.2 (maintenance release)
-Style
*Fixed the bug that the larger text gets cut off on "light weight" editable combobox.
*Improved "light weight" combobox's pulldown list.

Ver 3.1.1
(Backport from activeheart-1.1.4)
-Style
*Added "Light weight widgets" group to "Others" category.

 FreeBSD - can't make

by kevryn on: Feb 27 2004

Score 50%

on FreeBSD 4.9-STABLE with KDE 3.2, configure runs fine, however make fails with the following errors:

In file included from config.cpp:34:
config.h:32: thinkeramikconfig.h: No such file or directory
*** Error code 1

Searching through the thinkeramik directory does not turn up the file thinkeramikconfig.h. Where is it supposed to come from?

thinkeramikconfig.h is the file which should be made in process of make.
If you try the following, the cause that thinkeramikconfig.h isn't made may be found out.

./configure --prefix="`kde-config --prefix`"
cd kwin/config/
make thinkeramikconfig.h

I did as you suggested, and it created the file just fine. Then I had the same problem for thinkeramikrc.h and fixed it the same way. I wonder why they weren't created automatically during the make process?

Anyway, it's installed and working now. Thanks.

 Debian package ready

by Borszczuk on: Mar 1 2004

Hi,

I've made Debian package (.deb) of Thin Keramik, so all you Debian users shall either add:

deb http://wfmh.org.pl/carlos/debian/ ./

to your /etc/atp/sources.list and install "kde-thinkeramik" package or manually browse above address and fetch desired *.deb by hand.

BTW: since I don't think it's wise to start new kde-look's project just because I've packaged this stuff, I announce that here, but would also like to ask the TK's author to put the above information on project website. Thanks.

Marcin

 Help! Any ideas?

These screenshots are showing an awesome font... which turns out to be a real pain to find! I am pretty sure this is Lucida Grande (maybe Bold?). I tried the MacOS X (shipped with OpenOffice) version and it does not come out like this at all...

Any ideas anyone? The author did not answer my email asking which font he is using...

Help !!!
Thanks!

I replyed to your E-Mail three days ago.
Nevertheless, since you are not reading my E-Mail, I write the answer to your question once again here.

The font which I am using is "Luxi Sans", and it was contained in XFree86-truetype-fonts-4.3.0 of Fedora Core 1.
I think that it is probably contained in most distribution packages.

Hi!

Glad to ear back from you... I really apreciate you responding to my email but I just never got anything... it may have went to my junk folder because of the address filtering thing - I am very sorry.

I will try the font you describe here... hope to get a nice look like yours! :-P

Thanks again.

Dan.

Great Job man!!! I really like thin-keramik theme a lot :)

Thank you for doing such a great job...

I have one feature request... I'm not sure whether it's possible though...

There is an option to use strong gradient for button, is it possible to make one for combobox as well?

:) Thanks again for a great piece of theme :)

Of course, it is possible.
However, please wait not for the next version(Ver-3.0.8) but for Ver-3.0.9.

 The better Keramik

by WinterWolf on: Mar 10 2004

Honestly, this is a combination of the best elements of Keramik. I hope either this or Plastick become default in 4.0 or 3.3.

Great job on it!

BTW: Does anyone have many screenshots of TK on a high bandwith server, I want to post some on the Lindows forums and urge them to switch from Keramik to Thin Keramik.
