SEE SCREENSHOTS FOR AN EXPLANATION!

Came up with this idea a while ago, haven't seen anything like it that's already made.

The desktop icons aren't supposed to be transparent, I cobbled this together from multiple screenshots in the GIMP and that's just how it came out.


A WORD OF CLARIFICATION: windows don't open by default behind the icons, they have to be moved there.

The idea is original and I like that. However I don't see the value of this instead of the already existing show desktop button (you can click it again to unminimize the windows).

The idea is that you can stick something you want to glance at from time to time behind the icons (such as a really big download,) then if you have compiz with snapping windows you can use that to glance at it, or you can use the show desktop button, or whatever. If you click on one of these windows, nothing happens. You have to select it using the app switcher, maybe even drag it in the app switcher until its on the other side of some separator so it'll be in front of the icons again.


Alternately, you could use it for something like projectM or goom.
