Description:

Enables scheduled captures using the
Hauppauge pvr150/HVR1600 tv card.
Although it's a KDE/Kommander app, I have tested it with Debian Gnome and XFCE. I have also tested it with X,K,Ubuntu distros as well as Ubuntu Studio.

Changelog:

0.7
There are now six seperate install scripts to allow for installing with different default settings for
media player, file manager and editor. Three of the scripts are for Ubuntu, Kubuntu and Xubuntu.
The other three are for a Debian install with KDE, Gnome or XFCE. (If your not using one of these distros
you can use any install script and adjust the settings to your needs on the "Setup" tab.)

Added support for different file managers, text editors and more media players.

Added support for capturing directly to mp4 format. MPlayer/MEncoder needs to be installed.

Fixed the capturing time to allow for "Noon" and "Midnight" captures.

Adjusted the color scheme so hopefully it will look better with other setups.

0.8
Can now handle spaces in the "Capture" and "Directory" names.

0.8.5
Changed name to reflect HVR-1600 compatibility.

Added simple channel changing capability using ivtv-tune.

Added the "Pause" capability. Now if you press "Pause" a temporary recording will
be captured until the player is closed at which time the temp file will be deleted.

Fixed a bug that was preventing sheduled "Weekly" captures in Slackware. (Vector Linux 6)

0.8.6
Changed the way the program shuts down the tv player as well as the recordings.

Added "Sleep Timer" button. This is also useful for exiting a "One Touch Record" recording if you have to
step away from the computer after starting it.

Added support for dolphin file manager.

Sorry. I've been trying to upload the file for several days now. I keep getting an error message saying "Please specify a download file."

I've tried compressing it into several different formats. I've also tried uploading it from several different computers and distros. This is the first time I've had this trouble.

If you are using Debian you need to install "ivtv-utils" to get "v4l2-ctl". It could be named differently in other distros.

Also please read the "Readme" that is in the tarball as well as the the Help file that can be accessed from the "Help" button on the utility.

Sorry for the late reply. I haven't checked this page in a while.

 Works fine with the PVR-1600

The utility works as well with the analog half of the Hauppauge PVR-1600 (using that wonky beta cx18 driver) as it does with its intended PVR-150 (which is no longer available for sale). In my case driver compiled from a v4l daily snapshot for kernel 2.6.24.5 on Slackware 12.1(KDE 3.5), but cx18 support is supposed to be in the kernel tree for 2.6.27

If only the utility included an easy way to channel-select for the card ... :)

Good work!

Thanks for the input. I have been looking at the HVR-1600 lately. I was hoping that the analog side worked the same with the utility.

I'll look into adding channel changing capability. My personal capture utility is set up to change channels on a DIRECTV satelite box. I think this is much different than changing channels on the card directly, as with a cable hookup.

 Link broken again?

Hi!

I was just googling for an easy way to capture video with my PVR150 in Linux, apart from switching to Windows XP... and your program seems to be about the only one that can do this.

I really would like to download the program, but it seems the current hoster you are linking to is already doing maintenance on their servers for at least a week.

Can you help me out? :-)

So Sorry.
I've been busy with life and haven't thought about this app for a while.

It should work now.

PS. I didn't realize "Savefile" was down and I can't always get "KDE-Apps" to accept my uploads.

Thanks for this. I am using it on KDE 4.3.3 openSuSE running on an AMD x86_64 with a PVR350 card. Works great.
