This is a picture of a lighthouse taken from the end of Navy Pier in Chicago, IL, USA

Exposure: 1/2000
Focal Length: 200.0mm
F/5.6




Changelog:

For the new version 1 picture and screenshot I scaled down the image from 3008x2000 pixels rather than using a lot of compression. This will allow better colors and less loss. The new images should be cleaner and look a lot better.

IMPORTANT: The preview seems to use some 8 bit colours (for better compression) but the download is 24 bpp.

Thanks for your comment. I have updated the screen-shot and download to retain more of the original quality. Instead of increasing the JPEG compression I scaled the image down from 3008x2000 pixels to approximately 2560x1700 (to meet file size limitations). It should look a lot better now!

Nice Picture,
but why not PNG when you scale it down?
Less lost of quality during compression.

I'll have to look into that. I've always used JPEG and that is the format my Camera takes pics in (Unless I set it for RAW). I've always heard of PNG as a replacement for GIF and not compared to PNG. Thanks for the info.
