Section should be extra.
Wouldn't it be nice to have a ncurses based dialog that asks about the prefered programms and give the possibility to select from diffrent sections diffrent apps ?
i.e i use ncftp and irssi with bitlbee, bouth does not exist in your script. Some use irssi and centericq/centerim.
Give postinst, preinst a chance, as a small hint. I think you're on a good way.

I appreciate the comment, didn't pre or post anything as it was originally for me to get everything that i want at one go, but i thought that i would share it since it seems that anything that one person needs there is at least one more out there looking for the same thing
