Description:

What if you could rightclick a file and add as many meta-information as you like. For example you could add to a screenshot in png-format the Categories picture with subcatetory screenshot with subcategory kde-screenshot etc.
Even konqueror should then be able to show the categories like file-size, name etc so you can sort them according to the type of file, you\\\'ve just created (before there was only the type png-file, now theres screenhot and kde-screenshot).
Another example would be having a movie be a part of the categories (or group if you like it that way better) like \\\"movie\\\" > \\\"thriller\\\" and \\\"bruce willis\\\" so you can easily sort your movies or other files after starring, type of movie, language etc.

similar concept (with mockups too) expressed here:

http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=33689

I added a backlink to your brainstorm: let's try to come out with a unified "vision" so kde core developers can (if they want!) refer to kde-look as a whole on this subject ;-)

in the file properties dialog, give the full path and name so one can right click and copy.

There are many, many times when I need this information, and it becomes a four-step process (1-copy path, 2-paste in destination, 3-copy file name, 4-paste in destination)

I know this is important not just to me, because there are freeware/for sale products for Windowze to let you do exactly that...

Sorry but this sub-tagging reminds me....the directory concept. I mean, tags are good, but as long as they are flat. If they start to be a hierarchy, then they won't differ too much from normal directories

Yes, but this concept allows to have one file be a part of many "directories" plus easy sorting according to the information you are looking for.

I think that sub-tagging is an important feature. Flat tags are good, but sometimes not enough.

Anyway, I'm not too sure whether this tag system would be very used. It would probably be bothersome to fill in all the tags...

 searching tags

I think it would be cool if we were able to add as many tags a we want to a file whith a right-clic, and whatever you whant.

and it should be great to be able to store tags, for example:
photo -> places and people you have already add as tag for a photo are put together in the box photo
music -> all kind of music you have ever tag, all artists, all albums, put in 3 boxes : artists, albums and kind of music

I will try to do a (very ugly un blak and white ) mock-up
