It was derived from the Indubstrial theme which was derived from the Novel Industrial theme.

I did some changes to the restore, minimize, maximize, and close buttons. I also changed the way the window looks when its maximized.

I also fixed a few glitches, missing pixels, missing lines, redundant black pixels and other more.

I believe that Smooth GNOME is a dervitive of the original novell industrial theme. You can find it named Glider on Gnome 2.8. I'd guess this because they look exactly the same.

For starters, I love how the Metacity Gradient is not so deep, but still nice and roundish.

The close/max/min buttons are much better looking (Active & Inactive), then the ones found in Glider & Industrial. It looks like allot more attention to detail was given to them.

As for what others have been saying, i am sorry I just can not see how anyone could see this Metacity as a rip off? If anything, a huge improvement on the original industrial style.

Please if you don't have anything positive or constructive to say, then don't say anything at all...

Somewhat I agree, but it's all depending on how much he (and any other people) copy from its original!! yeah yeah he changed something, BUT whatis actually different. I am sorry I don't see enough.. In this case, we call it "plagiarism" or "piracy." And that is clearly not what GPL means. Isn't it!?? Oh once again, this is A DIRTY COPY.

If you compare the modifications with the source code, you will see mine has a lot more changes, more functional than graphical. Just lots of tweaks, bug fixes, and a few UI enhancements.

With GPL anyone has a legal right to fork code. They even could take the linux kernel slap their own name on it, as long as the source code is distributed freely. It is even possible to take the linux kernel and change the name. For example, look at Xorg vs XFree86, there were very little changes when Xorg came out, and Xorg is a fork of XFree86 4.3 code.

Look at Redhat, Debian, Suse, Mandrake, Knoppix.... and 100's of distributions at http://www.distrowatch.com all with their own Linux distribution.

If I can't do what I am doing, then they can't also.

I'm not planning on reinventing the wheel here, and thats what the GPL doesn't want you to do and that is not what open source is about.

What do you want me to do? A "clean room implementation". At least they way I'm doing it more innovative and in the open source nature than copycat ports of other OS GUI's. Their work might even have copyrighted artwork from a priporitary company.

The Indubstrial and Industrial them are are GPLed so I can do anything that is within the GPL guidelines. So I can tweak GPL code, I can distribute, and I can sell it.

If you're a troll, or Microsoft employee, please troll somewhere else.
