Description:

This artwork features a 1958 Cadillac
which is perceived typically American
by Europeans and Americans alike.
Back then the American dream was real
and a Cadillac surely the aquedate car.
The engines were huge V8, which
delivered around 300 hps.
Besides the impressing engine, they
had an automatic transmission, cruise
control, radio with automatic
signal-seeking, heater, air conditioner,
electric door locks, automatic parking
brake release, power vent window
regulators, remote control trunk locks,
electric control seat and electric
window lifts...

The original picture was taken in
Mannheim, Germany.

Ciao,
Dominic

well, it is definitely a Cadillac, but not sure what the model is or the year

dont know about the TFT vs CRT issue although i think it would be safe to say that LCD screens can be brighter

...judging from the low rating, I think your mistake was posting an American-themed wallpaper in a global context. Europeans (disproportionately represented on kde-look, from what I've seen), in particular, seem easily offended by this sort of thing, interpreting it as a "USA is better than everybody else" attitude. I doubt that's what you meant to express, and therefore I voted 'good'. Don't get discouraged.

These old Cadillac's are
typical American for an European.
This is why I have chosen the
title American.
(I am from Germany.)
It is sad how the connotation of the
word American seems to have changed
in recent years. I hope this will
change for better in a not too distant
future. Meanwhile, enjoy the picture :-)

 Sad, but true...

Unfortunately, your artwork is being rated poorly due to "American" in its name. I was going to post a comment about this, but noticed that you were from Germany and figured people would cut you some slack. I guess I figured wrong. I am trying very hard not to dislike all French, Germans etc. for being so anti-United States. I understand that not all western Europeans feel this way and your post serves to remind me of this fact. However, as an American, I see a growing resentment and distain for Europeans. We have been willing to die by the thousands to help Europe in two world wars. If Europeans are not careful, I'm not sure there will be enough support to assist, if needed , again.

Its a cool picture!

Not to turn this entire post into a political thing, but lets not forget we (Americans) have recieved just as much help from the Europeans in our own wars. Without the French, we may not have won the war for our own independance. Your making it sound a bit like, "We keep helping and helping you with nothing in return, and yet you dislike us." They have made plenty of sacrifes for us. The fact that many Americans forget this might have something to do with their dislike of us.

Oh, and I'm an active duty United States Marine, if that means anything. ;)

The rating of the picture
should not be over-emphasised.
After all this is
still "kde-look.org".

However I think the current
(subliminal) dislike has
it's root in the current
administration and how
it acts internationally.
Obviously the dislike gets
transferred to trivial things like
car pictures, similar to the
senseless french fries vs.
freedom fries campaign.
Just good enough to impress the
simple-minded.
Nevertheless I am quite happy
I have been able to do you a favor
by posting my artwork :-)

I am still curious about the model and
technical data...maybe we can focus
on this topic from now on ;-)

Ciao,
Dominic

The model seems to be a 1958 Cadallac.

Check out the images for the 2dr Hardtop. I think its an exact match.
