Description:

A GUI driven shell script allowing easy usage (and optionally download) of the xdelta patches provided by KDE download mirrors.

Depending on your connection speed, this will save a lot of time when downloading KDE source code (~7MB vs. ~125MB for KDE 3.2.2).

Requires the wget and xdelta tools.

See included README for more details.

Changelog:

0.2:
- Support arts
- Fix error logging
- trap and handle signals

Good idea, this will help a lot people.
But I think this kind of updates will conflict with debian/dpkg/apt.
Do you think this could be made kompatible in some way?

The script only updates KDE sourcecode, not compiled binaries.

This only benefits people using Konstruct, Gentoo , *BSD, LFS or those compiling manually.

For example on Gentoo or BSD you can use it to update the files in your "distfiles" directory before running emerge or make.

Package management does not handle sourcefiles, or the ports collection itself, so there are no problems.

but shouldnt it be doable to let this work with debian/rpm sourcefiles??? they just contain the same source, and even have an patchsystem, so it should be patchable, or at least - it should be possible to put the patch somewhere, and then let apt-get apply the patch before compiling???

if the source has a debian dir which contains textfiles for dependencies and discription, then you can build the source with "dpkg-buildpackage" and will get *.deb files which can be installed with "dpkg -i .deb"
