Description:

Argonaut="Paper Nautilus"

Its style is that of your background, personality is in the icons and font. Focus is put on the content inside rather then the frame, so you can get the job done rather then getting lost.

This is a minimalistic approach however I am also curious as what parts strike you as the tilting point between minimalism and standard. Ex. Would moving the close/minimize up a row tip the see-saw?

All critiques are appreciated, Thanks!

ps. if you think having everything in the top bar would be required for everything, think again. If I were to mock up rhythmbox it'd look almost identical to itunes.

I think it would be a good starting point for a new file browser program. I like the idea of using a minimum amount of screen space; could add a sidebar that can pop-out of the side of window that contains frequently used folders, devices, shortcuts, etc.
If this were a new program, a minimal memory footprint and processor usage would be nice too, so it could run well on desktop systems and netbooks.

This kind of looks like the Google approach, minimalistic. I rated up... it should be an option... but not default. :)

It's great for me and others, but one layperson will have a great dificult to use it. The idea of usability is to let the interface the easiest possible way. And in this way, will generate a lot of problems of usability, like stay more than 10 seconds try to figure out what does this button.
But will be great for a Nautilus mode.

This is just my opinion....

I would consider a cnc machine a very refined tool, almost perfected. A cnc machine has about 60 physical buttons on the control panel to give the user full direct control at all times. To the average person however a cnc machine is very complex. Gnome will hopefully be used by billions of people some day. If that is to happen, it has to be simple enough for the average user. In this case less = more usability. I appreciate your response.

Your right, this has a learning curve.

I tried to base it off of a natural touch interface. In a touch interface you can move something by clicking and holding anywhere, despite buttons or content. However in a mouse environment this cannot be extended for the whole window. So rather !the entire top bar! can be clicked and dragged to move the app. Double clicking in the super bar will expand the app, as well as dragging the app to the top bar.

This is explained in the notes. To someone who has used a natural touch interface before however, this would, well, be more natural.

it may be too minimalistic to be as default but I'd love to have it like that, also it's not so hard to discover what each button does, just click on it once :)
