Description:

as I found out this is not a new idea and was discussed in several posts..

the reason for this: why there are 3 places where should I look when I want to work with same application?
for example Amarok
1. launch it with quicklaunch
2. min/restore window in task bar
3. operate with it in system tray

with merging functionality of all 3 components and active preview of windows I think this could be done in 1 place

I'd also love to see that in 4.3. Though, I understand, that this may not be easy to accomplish. So I suggest to release a public prototype(early alpha) when it is ready and to test it in the real world.

Let's just start with the already possible thinks and improve step by step ;)

First of all I* would like to clarify that we were talking about adding this to existing plasmoids (Fancytasks/Stasks). So for enabling it as alpha guys (Emdek/Marcin) who programmed these could mess up their existing code; no real gain would be garanteed; big amount of problems could show up.. because of this the decision might be hard ;)
but it would be great if someone forked their code so others can test it and finally it could be adopted everywhere ;)

*I = guy who only made some screenshots, played with kolourpaint (not even gimp) for 3 hours and doesn't really knows what's going on in background.. yeah and isn't even coder :D

glad you like it ;) unfortunately i don't have account on forum.kde.org and i'm lazy to make one just for this idea.. i think some steps this direction were done and people had choice to vote for this on kde-look.. so we'll see if there will be any results.. anyway you're free to post this idea there if you want ;)

Too confusing for me. I want the quicklaunch to have some small icons in an otherwise large panel with large icons, so I can make clear groups of icons. And definitely I want to have an extra area for minimized apps. I want to distinguish clearly without having to think about it is the app active or not.

Want Debian Sid with spices? Get sidux at sidux.com - it simply works :)
