Submitted:  Jul 12 2007
Updated:  Nov 6 2007

Description:

a winlist replacement module. more information/code you can find here:
http://code.google.com/p/itask-module/

you need a recent(0.16.999.039) version of e for this module to work.

Installation:
./autogen.sh
make
make install

KEYS:

Configure the keybindings in e's keybindings config dialog (NG Winlist).

toggles:
a - shows all application

d - shows applications from other/all desks (other / all / off)

s - brings the apps from other desks to the current desk

i - shows also the iconified apps (iconified / off)

w - shows only all apps that are of the same type as the currently selected

q - keeps the current state of the app (e.g. when it's moved to the current desk, or stacking, etc.) when it becomes unselected.
this is for example useful when you want to bring a bunch of windows to the current desk.
--

j,k - go back and forth in the list

esc - restore desktop

Troubleshooting:
- error happens when using precompiled packages of e: Enabling the Module give a message like "not found in ..linux-gnu-i486..."
-> move ~/.e/e/modules/winlist_ng/linux-gnu-i686/ to .../linux-gnu-i486

--
5.11.07
- winlist doesnt cycle anymore. I think it's a lot more usable now (the old version is still available on the google code page)
- small theme improvements

--
2.8.07
fix to make it work without composite again

--
1.8.07
added support for multiple zones (i.e. xinerama)

--
fixed toggles (and seggies)

--
- fixed a segv when hide animation is diasbled
- nicer defaults

--
- added config options for the hide animaton

--
- updated README
- and added a simple config dialog - still the keybindings are configured in e's keybinding dialog

if you refer to winlist ng (not itask ng) you dont need a composite manger. sorry the README is still the old one(from itask ng)

for winlist ng you can configure the keybindings in e's keybindings config dialog.(configuration panel -> keyboard& mouse -> Keybindings ) for example set alt+tab to 'NG Winlist','Switch to Next Window'

 Activating module...

by tuxcayc on: Sep 16 2007

Hello:

Both winlist and itask look really nice, but activating them at the <Modules> configuration they show me an error (the same error with winlist ng and itask ng)

In the case of winlist it shows me this:

There was an error loading module named: winlist_ng
The full path to this module is:
winlist_ng/linux-gnu-i686/module.so
The error reported was:
/home/<my_home>/.e/e/modules/winlist_ng/linux-gnu-i686/module.so: undefined symbol: e_configure_registry_item_add

Would you like to unload this module?

=====================
Thats the error, i hope you can help me; it compiled well, it installed with no-errors and this is the only error, the same with itask (but changing the paths in the error message)

Thanks.

Another thing, renaming the folder linux-gnu-i686 yo linux-gnu-i486 just cause e17 to not show me the error, but it really doesnt activate the module. If I click the module in the list again, it shows me as disabled.

Im using <Arch linux(Dont Panic)> and installed <e> from the community repo of pacman.

Thanks

Hey Jeff,
I was attempting to compile this from SVN and I'm getting an error about edje?

checking for EDJE... configure: error: Package requirements (edje) were not met:

No package 'edje' found

Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.

Alternatively, you may set the environment variables EDJE_CFLAGS
and EDJE_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.
See the pkg-config man page for more details.

Hmm, well, I know I followed your directions on the google code page and ran the export command.

For some reason it didn't like me then. I switched from openSUSE 10.3 with e17 via easy_e17.sh (yeah I know but I'm lazy) to Oz OS and it works fine now.
