Description:

An idea for a desktop file management/application launch system. The desktop starts with the 6 main icons. Clicking on these focusses it to the centre and its sub-items radiate around it. CLicking on the centre icon returns to the previous menu. Folders with too much content to fit are opened in konqueror (or possibly other applications specific to the content of the folder). Any comments would be appreciated.

This is not meant to be a file browser, just an easier way to access desktop items.

 Kommando

It already exists an App that does exacly the same thing. It's kommando. I think the only thing that is missing in kommando is the possibility of calling the app by a mouse shortcut.

great, if this could be integrated into the desktop, perhaps also if it had the ability to monitor files in ~/Desktop and integrate those into it.

if you want to launch it by mouse shortcut, why dontcha just add some mouse gesture in KHotkeys to launch it? i did the same thing with 3ddesktop and it works like a swiss watch :)

with xbindkeys you can even map it to a mouse key (pretty useful on my mx1000 mouse with lots of buttons ;))

could be a good idea with a "media-center" distribution. so make it optional! for work, the desktop should look a little bit more normal.
