Description:

i havent a mockup but just an idea. how bout having the menubar item as just another entry in the toolbar. that would make things so much easier for everyone... maybe create apseudo class that shows all menu entries if its shown... plus support to show applets in the toolbar...that way kicker could be made into a toolbar to the desktop instead of a whole new widget...and applets can be moved among windows etc... that will give a lot of power to kde for sure... ill try to do this soon
-------heres a better description-------
Well, see, currently you have two entities, the menubar and the toolbar,,, what i suggest is, how about having one entity, namely the toolbar (kind of like gentleman's gentle gnome?) and have a menubar (or menubar entries) as a toolbar entries. also have the titlebar also as an entry in the toolbar itself. Understand that this will require a lot of redesign with the toolbar code (vis-a-vis alignment etc). Another thing that could be done is that the toolbar could be made multiline (only necessary for look-and-feel consistency).now since the toolbar can hold images and text, why not let it hold widgets. Now the advantage of this would be one can have an applet (animation, game, anything) anywhere on any window. The kicker(plasma?) code will be easy... just make an app which is a toolbar. also then each application can have a kicker which will be cool and imho quite unheard of on any other os

If I get it it seems like a good idea, if I don't get it I don't know.

I'll try again tomorrow when I haven't had eight beers...

Sounds like it should be implemented in Qt, not KDE.
