Windows resizes with scroll wheel

KDE4 Brainstorm

Description:

I think it would be interesting for a window to be resized (in increments) when the scroll wheel is used on the window decoration. When it gets to a certain size, it should either maximize or minimized the window. Obviously, the window orientation could not change to ensure that the mouse always hovers over the decoration while scrolling.

scrollwheel on the windec changes transparancy, and i prefer to keep it that way...

resizing should be possible by just (like now) dragging with the mouse, and scaling with something like ctrl-mousedrag.

I would rather add some advanced functionality. By advanced I mean to be able to define ANY arbitrary action for ANY mouse button (for example, including dcop calls or arbitrary commands, in many window parts). Fvwm can do this, and that is why I just use it instead of kwin, which is lacky in functionality in my opinion.

I would like to be able to do that not only in the title, but for example, in each corner, the whole frame, each side separately, over the window as a whole, or into the client part only... You get the idea, and anyone who has ever used fvwm knows what I mean. This will also allow one thing that is not too practical with the current kwin features: titleless decorations.

I, for example, do have two mouse wheels, so I would personally use the first one to shade/unshade, as always, and the second one to resize the window by a 10% on both, the X and Y axis. I use those two same bindings in fvwm and I am happy with them. I would personally not use transparencies at all, I just dont feel a need to. Shadows can be ok sometimes, but I am still to find any real use for transparencies in a desktop.

wow. that's quite something ;-)

i do think it's possible, but i rather see the developers concentrate on more commonly used features... sorry, but even most advanced users won't need this (heck, i don't even use most features currently in kwin). i'm pretty sure they would accept code for this, if it has a very good interface, but i don't think they want to spend time on this.

luckily we have choice on the linux platform :D

Alt+right click (and move the mouse) maybe works for you? Otherwise I belive this is possible already today, with some dcop calls etc.

Alt+right click does work, I was just throwing the idea out for another functionality of the scroll wheel.

But I also agree with 6thpink in that any mouse button can be used for any arbitrary function.
