Description:

VyQChat is a real-time, serverless chat software for home and office
networks that runs on GNU Linux. It is compatible with Vypress Chat(TM)
for Windows and allows you to chat with friends on public or private
channels, send and receive messages etc. VyQChat uses Qt library and
provides nice GUI. There is also optional sound support.

Changelog:

* a presence notify packet is sent to the requester only, not to all; this should stop flood alerts.
* a bug with zombie processes in libao and arts support was fixed
* a memory leak on the 'play' command and external scripts execution was fixed
* the autoconf script was updated with the latest version of the bnv_have_qt macro

Well, kopete comes immediately to my mind; so, what about making it a kopete plugin?

Well, I wanted VyQChat to be KDE-independent. The only requirement is Qt and nothing more. Kopete plugin however is a nice idea, maybe I'll add it in the future as optional compile-time option.

Why? KDE integration gets you access to KIO, KFile dialogs, inter-program script-ability and a huge host of other functionality. Not to mention the 10 million desktops that KDE applications reside on. Bobby

savannah.gnu.org seems to have problems with webpages syncing through cvs and vyqchat homepage is not up-to-date. In case anyone wants to download the newest vyqchat-0.2.7, please use direct download link from this page, or go to download area using this link: http://savannah.nongnu.org/download/vyqchat/

 Keep on like that

I have to say though I found a problem with ver 026. I am using vyqchat in a local lan with around 50 vypress users, and after about 5-10 minutes after logging on they are complaining about my vyqchat "flooding". They are receiving a message in vypress which sounds like that:
"Incoming flood detected from 10.1.100.14. Ignoring user TaTaE for 5 minutes"
I hope there will be a fix for that, because this is a great chat application.

there is no place like localhost.

I have same problem. Win-VyChat clients detect flood from vyqchat :(

And I think that vyqchat incorrectly detects user encoding (UTF/ansi) - russian letters in messages from some users are displayed incorrectly :(

P.S. Sorry for my bad English :)

 kopete plugin

VyQChat is a great application, you can also have a plugin for VyQchat for kopete.

1.VyQChat (standalone)
2.VyQchat-plugin (kopete plugin).

this will definitely help kde to have lan to lan chat client. Please consider adding a plugin to kopete.

Please consider making a small plugin for kopete. It will only benefit KDE users.

And if you feel like helping GNOME guys a Gaim plugin will do the justice.

In GNU/Linux Gaim and Kopete are the popular multimessengers.

Please...

Yes, I'll consider kopete plugin - probably when moving to Qt4 and also rewriting some parts of the code for better core vs gui separation.
