Description:

Animated tree in darkness. It is changing colors and slightly a shape of leafs. Idea behind is Microsoft campaign in our country, called Digital darkness. So, I created tree of hope in their darkness.
Tree is created completely from tutorial at http://kalaalog.com/.
You have to extract files somewhere and in background selection dialog select xml file (second one is much faster changing version). New version of gnome is required.
Make waves.

I extracted the file and selected the .xml file like you said, but all I get is a weird purple color, no tree, no animation. I am using Hardy, so it isn't an issue involving Gnome 2. Did I miss some obvious step?

Just a plain orange screen.

OK, so I unpacked everything in
/usr/share/background/
in there there's a file "treeindark"
which contains all .svg and the two .xml files.

I select/drag the .xml file as a background/wallpaper and still I get the plain orange screen.

Any help?

by the way there are fifteen svg files, maybe archive got corrupted or what.

I dunno guys, sorry. All I can say is that it's working on Fedora 8 and 9. I am not sure if animated wallpapers are standard feature of gnome, but fedora is known as good foss citizen. What exact version of gnome you have?
