Taking a snapshot of a window made easy
zoom

Description:

Just an idea I had. It would be nice to be able to easily take a screenshot of a window, without needing to launch Ksnapshot or another application.

We\'d right-click on the title bar, select the option, and a window would appear asking us where to save the screenshot, and in which format (jpg, gif, png etc).

Please vote and tell me what you think! :)

Yes, but you still need to paste the contents of the clipboard in a graphics application, then save the file.

My idea was to avoid having to launch any snapshot or graphical program: everything would be done in the window, without needing to launch another program.

No, just paste in the desktop or in a directory and it will ask you for a name. No need to open a graphical program.

Sorry, I wasn't aware of that. Great stuff, KDE! You learn about new functions everyday!

Maybe this idea wasn't so good after all... But it would still be nice if it was implemented :P

Then what about a save window popping up, when pressing printscr? That's at least how it is done in gnome.

I tried to set the shortcut to just [PrintScreen] but kde would not let me. I'd be happy if that would be possible.

it's a good idea!
you should be able to choose "Whole desktop" or "Only this application"
and it would be a nice little add-on,
and it's easy to integrate into KDE4 I think :)

 Corel Capture

I remember that Corel Capture could be run in the background. A little icon would appear in the system tray, then you could use it to make screen captures.

I propose an option for KSnapShot that would place it on the system tray immediately when it is started. And of course, captures would be done automaticaly according to options set by the user.

I think that can be done with a little KControl magic already.
