If you want to make it blue, it's really simple. Open up the file in gimp, then, right click anywhere on the "canvas" and go through the menu's like this: image -> colors -> hue-saturation. Now slide the hue bar in either direction to make it whatever color you want. I've done this with many wallpapers, styles and splashes with no problems. If you don't like how some of the colors come out though, then play around with it until you like it. Hope this helps someone.
