Description:

Refer to the picture for a mockup or demonstration of what I mean:

I have set my desktop cube to be entirely transparent, and can see windows on other sides of the cube at all times. My background then becomes my skydome.

I would like to be able to click a window that is on another side of the cube to select it, and have the cube automatically rotate to it.

This could also be done with a modifier key to prevent it from happening on accident.

For those who like having an opaque cube, another idea would be to have a button that would make a desktop cube go temporarily transparent, and then other applications could be selected.

Should help to improve usability greatly.

I like it though usually work with the whole workspace occupied with different windows even on one side of cube anyway more possibilities to interact with desktop user is given more people will start use Beryl.

I guess sometime I would use it.

"I like it though usually work with the whole workspace occupied with different windows"

Hmm. Maybe this would be one place that the modifier key could come in handy: press the modifier key, windows on the current cube side go transparent so you could see and select one on another side of the cube.

Lacks a certain usability, though, I admit. What makes I like so much about my original idea is that it's intuitive -- it makes sense to click a window on another desktop to focus it, and do whatever else it takes to make it readable.

 Slect windows...

to have this working, you have to have nautilus (or whatever your file-browsing program is) off. you can still launch a window via panel, but you wont have icons on your desktop. i can tell you a less-cool but similar way of doing it:

open CCSM (install it via SUDO(compizconfig settings manager)) scroll down to "rotate cube" then enable flip on pointer.
