...at least the Metabar (contained in kdeaddons3-konqueror) comes pretty close to your idea, doesn't it?

 Windows Vista

Few problems...

1. Thumbnail isn't needed when user have thumbnail showed on sidebar.

2. Most users dont even like sidebars (none of my friends and only few windows users knows they can use them)

3. "My pictures" "My Videos" has own stupid naming what just told user "you are so stupid that you dont know that your X files are here". And it is too much like windows, i dont like that mandriva adds those default directories and i always remove them because i have everything organized on my way to WiFi station or to network OR handheld mobile drives.

4. Normal user dont have just 4-5 files on their home directory. They have hundreds and thousands files and these mockups just dont work when there is normal amount of files.

5. Sidebar what have only few places and usually most of them arent even needed isn't helping normal user. It is nice to think those options but those should always be just options and not defaults (of cource, this is just a mockup of yours).

6. Addressbar is old way, here should be space for dolphin/nautilus way too. And most of my paths are so deep that nautilus dont even show start when konqueror can do it even on same sized view.

7. KDE changed "directory" naming to "folder", more like windows and macosX has, you should fix those on sidebar.

8. You should do more mockups with different wallpaper and color scheme to show users that it is bretty flexible style. Now it looks good but how about with white or red wallpaper?

9. If i like to see what pictured are inside one folder, i open it and i look all thumbnails once, i dont like to have small slideshow. Nice idea but just makes user to wait to see is there something inside what he want to find.....

I still would like to see ideas where user hase multiple windows open when using files (i have 4-5). I have thousands of pictures always on hand when i use my PC (thanks digikam!) and thousands of music files (thanks Amarok!). But still i dont have any good application to manage text files and videos... I hope Kaffeine will get something to do for videos like Amarok did for Music... Kerry is nice but it is little bit... slow as UI using (not on speed but how it is integrated to KDE...).

You have right. But every time users ask more for easy use...
And I think quickshow is prety if you want to watch fast.
For me is important.I don't like every time open app for movie or watch pics...
On Mac I use similar things ImageViewerCM Plugin etc...

You have right. But every time users ask more for easy use...

Basic and most advanced users wants more "easy" to use options. Most those dont even know what is easy and why their requested "easy-to-use" isn't good for usability. Most of them just supply their need but not common usability. This is one reason why i use KDE and i prefer it is much better even on 3.5.x series than MacOSX, XP, Vista, Gnome, XFCE, etc. Just because i can get own modified UI and shortcuts.

And I think Kuickshow is good if you want to watch fast all pictures on one directory.

Thats why pictures can show thumbnails to fast view. If im searching one picture from, lets say from usb-stick. I open that directory and i watch those thumbnails. I dont either open any picture viewer. But, i dont have those thumbnails for pictures anymore. I use digikam to organize my picture database (~80 000 pictures) what is one of the fastest application for that job (vs. adobe softwares and canon) handling such big archive.

If user dont have thumbnails on, then that quickview is good, then it is enough to click file and show that picture what it was. But, if user is searching one specific file from 100-x000 archive, it is faster to use application for it what shows thumbnails (if thumbnails is turned off). Clickin one by one, it is slow and is good enough for few pictures.

For me is important.I don't like every time open app for movie or watch pics...

For movie i would like to see moving thumbnail or that kind small window when i select file. I could fast way to find what i want. On movies it is important because they are, videos. If user wants to watch pictures, why dont have quickstarting application (kuickshow) to open them and navigate (start time is under 1s for me and i get good sized picture and not just small thumbnail then).
