Description:

This is a style I created when switching from Gaim to Kopete. It's a no thrill style based on XChat shipping with Kopete. It was a major cut and paste job with lots of trials and errors but as of version 0.4 I pretty much bit the bullet and learned a bit of XSL and pretty much did a complete rewrite.

Installation:
* Unzip the file
* Rename to Konsole.xsl if necessary
* Start up Kopete and choose Settings -> Configure Kopete... from the menu.
* Choose Appearance and then Chat Window.
* Use the 'Import' button and point to Konsole.xsl.

Configuration:
You can change a handful of major values in the style to your liking, given you are not afraid of going into the guts of the XSL file either with your favorite Editor or the built in one of Kopete. The variables are in the top section of the file and have a small comment on top of them that tells you what it does (see screen shots for to get a better idea).

Compatibility:
I tested it in the version bundled with KDE 3.2. Let me know if it works with earlier versions as well.

Changelog:

0.5.2
* Added configuration to use meta name instead of contact name

0.5.1
* Bugfixed contact name mix up

0.5
* Added experimental BiDi support
* Added experimental i18n support

0.4
* Merged the two styles from before into one. Behaviour can be changed by fiddling with a handfull of variables.
* Changed the default symbol for outgoing and incoming messages from ':' to '$' but made it configurable.
* Messages are indented on left side if the are longer than the screen.

0.3
* Made a tar file and added a style called Konsole-Black which overrides the Kopete colors

0.2
* Initial release

Looks good. The only thing is, you have to change the background and text colors yourself. Like it though.

I got a version which is using hard coded colors but I thought the one where you can fiddle a bit with the 'em is better.

 What about BiDi

how well does it support BiDi languages ? because the Kopete XChat style is terrible in BiDi mode

Dunno since I don't speak or write any of the BiDi languages myself. I'd appreciate if you could let me know how well they will work.

Although the style was initially a copy & paste job of XChat, I considerably changed the layout in version 0.4. And testing is the only way to find out at this point.

Additionally if you can let me know a style that works well with BiDi I can try to factor it into the next release.

I really love it, I think Kopete is hideous by default (if you use a dark desktop color scheme) and nice styles like this just make everything better.

keep it up and if you have any more styles, I would love to see them.

this is the only style I have so far, but I was thinking of doing one called Cygwin which is using, surprise, surprise, the Cygwin command line as a template.

I'll post it once I got around actually implementing it ....

cheers,

I can't get Kopete to install this or anything else, it always either fails or refuses to recognize the file.
