Description:

I think that KDE4 should be very versatile at kontact level. In my opinion a good improvement is the integration with plasma (hope i'm correct), like this widget for karamba, with the funcionality of create a apointment directly from the desktop. It could show the apointments in the current month, like in the screenshot.

PS-other funcionality possible could be like onMouseOver and appear the propeties of the apointment.

Sorry by the bad english.

 Great idea!

I would love to be able to add/edit/view appoinments from a desktop interface like dbKalendar. It is great, clean yet stylish calendar application with some very nice skins. Tying it into something like Kontact would be a real plus.

 use for clock applet

This function should be used for the clock applet. If you klick on the clock now, then you can see an empty calendar. Within KDE4 you should see the calendar of KOrganizer as mini app and it should display meetings as popup, as you suggested. If you click on a date, it starts KOrganizer. Or with right-click you can choose "New appointment".

The KOrganizer reminder app then could be removed.

I agree. We don't need a new Plasma applet for this. There is already the clock applet's calendar. Also, I see the danger of making everything an applet in KDE 4 rather than creating solid and well-designed applications. Support for Plasma applets and OS X dashboards is great, really. But hopefully this doesn't make a patchwork of small quickly-hacked "applets" out of a robust and superb KDE desktop.

I didn't think of that. But is a good point. I've think in this app because I like a calendar to appear in the desktop like this one for SuperKaramba.

 DCOP

In any case, KOrganizer could make these data accessible via DCOP, so that the author of an applet may include this himself.
