KDE4 application/task representatios (ideas)

Description:

Looking at the new way Plasma handles applets, karamba themes, icons etc. I thought maybe representing applications should also be more fluid.

As with plasma, where there ezists basically only one building block that can reside on multiple locations and in differetn views...., applications could also be more generically represented.

Instead of having only window-like functionality (minimize, shade, minimize to tray) it can be useful to:

a) minimize to an extender-like state with progress information for example.
b) dock a window into another application (like plugins) for example dock copy dialogs into konqueror window, or amarok into browser.
c) building on b) window aggregation can also be handy. For example if I have multiple konqueror windows I would like to drag one window on the other in some way... getting one window with two tabs.
d) Pipes... on the command line I love pipes.Maybe a graphical representation of pipes can be handy. To make this work a close look at the go live! suite under Mac can be handy, some kind of pipes are used there. One possible use is piping konqueror to an rss reader, automatically showing rss feeds on the current page, or piping a gimp picture to a document (updating the picture directly updates the document).
e) pluggable applications. Applications with some I/O behaviour that can be plugged onto eachother.. this is kind of a combination between pipes and dockable windows.

Does this sound useful?? Do you have any ideas or suggestions? Do you have the skills to mak mockups of these thing (I do not)?

greetz,

I'm running 3.5 and D&Ding konq on konq does not create one window with two tabs.
Could you explain the actions that lead to this ? maybe I missed something.
Click in titlebar, drag onto other window, drop ? no new tabs here.

I have to agree with the question. I can't get windows to combine either. (K 3.5)
