Description:

A darkish sky gradient reminiscent of a beautiful afternoon with an outline of a lone tree. The gradient emphasizes the top and bottom lines of the screen, where the taskbar and K-menu will be in most users' setup.

I also included a blueish hue version of the sundown wallpaper concept in the download.

Changelog:

5 January 2005, 21:01 GMT+0100:
- Updated the SVG for rendering by the KSVG Icon renderer, now it looks like intended on my KDE 3.4 desktop.

22 December 2004 12:00 GMT+0100:
- Added a simplified version of the tree to emphasize the SVG nature of the image, original version is still included.

I don't have anything against the use of potrace to vectorize bitmap and get nice svg's, but most of the time, it produces too much points and that gets you an overcrowded svg. And that may be the case here.

I think the beauty of svg is to bring beauty out of simplicity. In my opinion there is no sense in basing svg on original bitmaps. Consider it as a source of inspiration, or at least simplify your shapes a bit more ...

Again, that's my opinion,i just wanted to point it out, you have the right to disagree. Maybe that explains the clause "Rastor based images will not be accepted"

You may have drawn the sky according to the photo, it's pure and simple svg and it's beautiful, why don't you make more stylized trees, too ? :)

Good point. I agree fully with your comment, and I already planned to put in some time to stylize and simplify the shapes of the tree without losing too much of the overall 'feel' of the image. Right now, it's how I want it to look, even with all the small diddly branches which do not seem to be connected. I'll see if I can get a better, smaller version somewhere along this week. I'll update the content then.

The sky gradient was loosely based on my picture, but I added the yellowish hue and made the pink color a bit more saturated to amplify the effect of the sun going down. I think the gradient itself is already pretty powerful and the addition of the tree would make it complete, so I'm glad to see you like the gradient as it is right now.

I've also uploaded another wallpaper with trees, but it uses a "better" model, it's called Aurora (maybe you've seen it already) and it's located on KDE-Look at:
