Ok. I was on a LAN and I needed to share my internet connection because we didnt have any router.

I found this to be quite difficult, but after some searching on internet I found a very good explanation for making this work.

Now, i've made a WindowsXP like internet connection sharing guide for all who wants to share their internet connection easy and fast.

to use:

copy the tar.gz file contents into /usr/bin and then run:

kdeinternetshare.sh - English

For all those who are unsure how to use the guide, it should be good to stick to the default settings :)

This is only a quite simple guide so suggestions and improvments are welcome.

Changelog:

Fixed: Easier configuration by showing exactly how to set up the other computers.

Fixed: No Swedish version, I will translate the new version later.

I don't think I've got those skills, sorry.
But anyone is free to improve it.

I am so glad you made this, now that I've found it...
I'm still rather "new" with Linux... although, I've run it a total of three times in less than a year... I still don't know the terminal commands and most of the technical things when it comes to Linux.
But, yet again I'm going to be making a return (hopefully for the last time) to Linux... with KDE specifically. But, because of internet requirements when it comes to Linux, and my wireless card being a total pain outright for Linux, I couldn't figure out just how I was going to do it... But, this lets me connect through the other computer in the house (I'll just use a LiveCD run and do what I need through it) to get internet till I get my current wireless card configured with Ndiswrapper...
So... thank you for saving me about a half hour of fumbling with hardware... and an even bigger thank you for saving me severe annoyance with my family...
GR

hey .. Ijust came across this app even though its been around longer, having found it earlier it might have saved me hours of sleepless nights trying to configure sharing.
Now though, I have copied the files to /usr/bin and tried running it with kdesu but nothing happens.
I cant tell if i am missing dependencies or what?

any help?
I am running kubuntu edgy.
thanks

Try to convert the RPM package to deb, using alien, and then install it.

You will then get a menu entry, and maybe this will solve your problems.

Regards.

Just a quick question about this app.

Does it allow the user to share a connection that comes in via wire out to multiple computers via the wireless interface?

also, after the script sets things up for sharing, and I leave the enviornment where I need to share, does it undo the changes it made?

 Help Please

Hi

I'm really eager to get this app working. I'm using 64-bit Gentoo system.
I have wlan0 and eth0 interfaces. My eth0 goes to my network and wlan0 to the Internet. It will let me select eth0 but not wlan0.

Any help appreciated

Thanks

Dave

This is completely my fault.
The program only greps the eth connections.

As this program is unmaintained, I will not fix it. Instead I'm planning to release a completely new version of the application, made in ruby.

Regards
