Description:

Allright, so in my most recent upload, KDE 4 Mockup - SUSE, people were a bit annoyed because it was SUSE specific. To show Eriol's idea was very flexible, I've ported his theme to Yellow Dog...

I've also introduced a few ideas.

- When a new Mass Storage Device is connected, the user could have the option to sync it (much like the iPod) with a previously specified folder.
- In the main menu, there could be a textbox to launch an application (not search it in the menu).
- In the main menu, there could be a textbox allowing to search the user's computer for files, with a service such as Beagle. If the search takes a long time (Beagle is usually quick) there could be an animation to show the user Beagle is searching. (See the spinning wheel beside the search textbox).
When the search would finish, a new sub-menu would pop-up beside the search textbox (see image)...

----------

Special thanks to:

Eriol - For his KDE4 mockup idea

 Simply great

Your design is really nice, just a question:
¿Why there aren't icons in the apps main menu? I know that the actual Kmenu icons are so small that they are not useful, but what about big and descriptive icons? couldn't be useful for the user?

All your design are very good, keep on with them!

Thanks. Well the reason I haven't used icon is to make the menu look cleaner. I know, however that it's not really usuable, and that in real life, icons will have to be included in menus...

(ps. in my next mockup I'll include icons in menus, just to see how it looks.... and see if I can manage to make it look clean)

I like everything you have here. I would like to see this in KDE4. I use SUSE and I am looking at Yellowdog for the new computer. Your images are great on both. Keep up the good work.

I don't understand why we live in such a top/bottom world. It's because I can't put panels on the sides (well, not without it being completely messed up) that I don't use gnome, the general idea of apps, locations, and action thing is good, but PLEASE make it possible to have a sidebar instead of a top or bottom bar. Sorry if I sound harsh.

I like the notification system feature.

It's look great for system notification such as network connection or hardware recognition (flash memory plug for example).

 size of pop up

I really like the size of the "new device" pop up. in KDE4, I believe such pop ups should be as small as possible, if there at all. On windows, even the relatively small bubbles that pop up can become really frustrating. The KDE3.5 pop up is even more annoying. Although, I can see that pop up getting in the way of the window buttons on the top right, but small is good.
