Description:

This is an adaptation of Eriol's mockup for kde 4 (http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=28476)
and caaz's KDE Extender Mockup (http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=30012) for SUSE Linux. This is really nothing more than the www.opensuse.org colors applied to Eriol's mockup. It's just to show you the potential of Eriol's concept and that it can be applied to any situation, such as an adaptation for a specific distribution. Rate and comment my work please. Hope you like it!

--------
Why SUSE linux?

Some might wonder why I've picked SUSE linux to do this mockup. Well, it's very simple: it's only because I liked the colors used on the site www.opensuse.org and I though it would look great on a desktop. It's really nothing more than that. I could have picked Yellow Dog, but I doubt a theme made with their colors would make a good looking desktop... at least for me. Don't look at the SUSE logo, look deeper than that. Think about the concept of the mockup, which is that Eriol's idea could be used without any problems in any situation.

Thanks.

Upsilon

It is really nice!
In fact Eriol opened a whole new level in desktop and gui design posting his mockups and as we can see here, a lot of great ideas can be built upon that base.
Not only this mockup looks good, but it exposes many 'tips' and good graphic 'clues' that can be used to build more appealing interfaces...
as a developer I thank you a lot! ;-)
..and keep on exploring possibilities and inventing! ^_^

I like it, although i wish it wouldn't be SUSE specific (i use slackware)...

But it looks awesome! I hope the devs are paying attention ;-)

looks nice, that's true but i think you really should not make it so suse-speciphic. now, it looks to me a bit like a cheap piece of ad, and i'm sure that's not what you meant.

No no, it's not meant to be an ad, of course not! It's just that I wanted to demonstrate how well Eriol's mockup could be useable. The reason I picked SUSE is because I liked the color theme used on the opensuse.org site, and I though it would be great on a desktop... It's really nothing more than that... It's not distribution specificic, just look at the concept behind it....

as i said, "i'm sure that's not what you meant" :)
i'm not trying to condemn you :) all i want to say is that having something else on mind you must have overlooked the possibility of it being understood that way.
perhaps if you could add a theme of a different distro (which would be cool, btw, as i really like your idea :) ?
or simply write it with capital letters (well, more capital than you already have :) in the description that it's not an ad, and that you simply like these colours?

i'm sorry if you took it as an attack which it wasn't meant to be. please, consider it a sort of proof-reading ;)

ps. and sorry for posting it twice. must have clicked the button twice unwillingly.

No no, don'T worry, you didn't insult myself. I just realized my mockup could be interpreted as an ad, and that's the last thing I'd want to do. In fact, I at this very moment, I'm doing a similar mockup for another distriubtion; Yellow Dog! ;)

Thanks!

I am sorry — I like this and I don't get why people are upset about its SuSe-ness. Is a little lizard and a desktop picture that distracting from the good work?
