Description:

This is really just an idea. But for us gentoo users, we should have mimetypes for ebuilds, like there are for debs and rpms. Maybe mine sucks, but thats ok, create a better one if you like. This is basically a tar mimetype taken from the Nuvola set found at http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=5358, with a gentoo-G slapped on it. Post your comments, or create your own for different icon sets.

Povman produced a good point, in that most users will not see them. But, if you use a cool new feature in kde-3.2, from konq, go 'View" and select "Folder Icons Reflect Contents", you can see the cool ebuild icon on top of the folder icons. See the 2nd screenshot for that effect.

Good idea. I suck at making ions, but perhaps if there were an open package with the G coming out of it?

cool. The problem is, that i don't think many people would actually be in a dir with ebuilds very often, in konqueror. But, this is still useful. It will become really useful when things like kportage are worth using.

I see your point. I guess I see them a lot when I'm in my portage_overlay directory, editing and making new ebuilds, and not every gentoo user does that.

Not nessicarily, You can have your own custom local ebuilds in a dir on your home directory. I do in ~/my_ebuilds/
