DIY kmenu (plasma)

Description:

No fancy mock-up here I am afraid, at least not yet anyway.

The idea is a really simple one.

Instead of building a kmenu similar to the one we already have, make the kmenu a panel that can have any plasma widget you like placed on it, wherever you want.

So if you wanted to place an RSS reader on your kmenu you could, or a clock, or system info.... whatever.

Obviously we would need to build some widgets that would make it more useful, such as an application viewer and a widget for logging on and off.

Also this would enable people to choose how big or small there menu is, because they choose what is on it.

ps. ignore the link is pointless.

I think s/he means default one (kmenu) what comes with KDE ;-)

I have used all those new menus and i dont like any of them... Kmenu just is simple, easy and good for fast use.

We just need to fix few things, how to easily edit menu and add/remove applications AND how to find fast all applications what user want to use and not all files etc.

Littlebit more like vista has searchbar but it just shows applications. Its not "vista style" but more like "suse" but it would just list applications and not just "hide" those what dont match what suse did.

KDE it just must be...

None by the moment

KMENU is too slow.
SuSE Kick-off menu makes the selections of applications far faster.

However, is still not perfect, I believe that a mix between KBFX and Kick-off would be the answer.
