Description:

Here's an example of how to create an aqua lens. The gzip contains the original xcf Gimp file.
I don't know if it's best way, but it works.
I hope you'll enjoy it and create some cool icons for the community.

Yes, ok, I have to admit your lens is much more sophisticated and better looking than my own "marbles", even when scaled down to 48x48.

..but I recommend to play with the brightness and contrast settings to get the (background)gradient even better looking.

For the lens, I would try to make it a little more 'washed out' (again, try playing with the colors)

Also, I think it'd look even more 'Crystal-like' if you placed the lens a tiny little bit higher.

btw. I'm thinking about creating a small tutorial on how to create icons using the GIMP with the Crystal look..

Is there anyone that would be interested in such a tutorial?

Yeah a tutorial would be a great idea. I used this one to make some of my icons look better already.

I love the Crystal icons but I think the "marble" look is being overdone a bit - just slap any old icon in the middle of a marble and wham! another icon.

But I must admit that it was cool to see it broken down into layers. Very nice work!
