Description:

I have collected the communist wallpapers, and the CCCP splash screen, in one .gz file, but it's too big (1,9M) for the upload limit here (500K), so you can download it through my homepage.

Thougt I don't see stalin as a real communist, but more like a fascist, I have included your Stalin wallpaper (http://kde-look.org/content/preview.php?preview=1&id=13152&file1=13152-1.jpg&file2=&file3=&name=From+Russia%2C+with+Love) anyway, tusixoh.

 Does not belong here

I will reiterate what I have started in sub-threads.

KDE, Linux, etc. are all religiously and politically neutral. There are people who use Open Source who are liberals, conservatives, communists, capitalists, christians, muslims, jewish, atheists etc.

This website is about KDE and Linux/Unix art, not about dividing it's memberships into differing camps based on politics or religion. All of those subjects are irrelevant here and there are other forums for discussing it.

The only politics relevant to this community is the politics of free and open software.

Personally I'm a liberal, and I'm a Christian, but I am strongly against any submission of a wallpaper promoting free trade, or Jesus-is-the-Savior artwork. I would never submit or support such work because this is not the place for it.

I only ask that others also respect the neutrality of this site, which is what the silent majority of users desire.

I don't agree. If these aren't allowed, the only wallpapers you should allow are kde-specific wallpapers.

I think politically inspired wallpapers or whatever should be judged the same way as celebrity wallpapers or comic book wallpapers for example. If you're a fan, you like it. If you're not, you don't.

Should the site be neutral in all ways ? Nothing distro specific, no specific celebrity pictured, nothing in favor of a specific animal ( a penguin ? ), no specific color ? . You get my point.

I think this is a truely liberal idea: let everybody make the art they choose, and let everybody choose which wallpaper belongs on their desktop.

Greetz,
Pirro

No, you misunderstand what I've said.

KDE Wallpapers certainly belong here, but so do other things Linux related. The mottoe of the site is eyecandy for your KDE-Desktop, which usually runs on linux/unix.

Therefore Linux-related artwork, including art for different distros and Unix flavors, as well Penguins, Dragons, etc. are relevant.

But communism has nothing to do with KDE. Christianity has nothing to do with KDE.

If we allow this work, then we must allow others to post pictures of George W. Bush, quotes from the Quran or Torah or other religious works, etc. This would be no more relevant than if I started posting up themes and window styles that only worked on Windows XP.

If I want comic book art, race car wallpapers, or pics of naked women, you can find them on another website related to those non-KDE topics.

This site focuses on *KDE* artwork. Let's keep it that way.

How do you know what the "silent majority of users desire?" How COULD you know if they are silent!? Are they communicating to you via telepathy? Is telepathy really silent??? Who made you the silent majority's spokesperson? Shouldn't you be silent, too?

Sanctimonious twit.

P.S.

If the VP can say it, then so the fuck can I.

The silent majority of Linux users who visit this site, I among them, come here for cool KDE artwork, not to be swamped with religious or political propaganda, or in your case vulgarity.

I speak for the open source community of which I am part, which is the silent majority that frequents this site to find artwork about KDE, not little trolls like you who only know how to toss out profanity because they're incapable of constructing a rational argument.

And by the way here's a quote for YOU:

"Profanity makes ignorance audible."
-Alexander Pope.

Vulgar imbecile.

just be quiet
i am conservative and i have no problem with someone putting a commie wallpaper up, so what if it has nothing to do w/ linux? 60% of the wallpapers dont, so calm down
