Description:

Brushed Blue for amaroK is based on jmiahman's Brushed Blue MetaBar Theme ( http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=32964 )

I saw his Metabar theme and though it would be a good idea to make one for amaroK, because they both use CSS sidebar themes, and because I think most amaroK themes look rather out of place in Baghira. I think this theme looks less like a web page and more like another part of the interface than some amaroK themes. Obviously, this will look out of place if you're not using Baghira's brushed metal mode for amaroK.

I have stretched head.png to twice the width, as I keep the amaroK context browser wider than the Konqueror sidebar.

Thanks to jmiahman for the idea.

The window decoration and style in the screenshot are both Baghira ( http://baghira.sourceforge.net/ ). Like the original Brushed Blue, this theme is designed to match Baghira.

If you vote Bad on this theme, please tell me why because I intend to make further changes. This isn't supposed to look very good or match the theme at all unless you're using the Baghira KDE style and Brushed Metal is set for amaroK.

Update: Tested and works for me with amaroK 1.4 Beta 3 on Gentoo, without modification. Probably doesn't need any changes because it doesn't use different CSS for each box. I'll put up a screenshot sometime. Should probably work with all 1.3 and 1.4 builds.

Update: The line to the left of the scoreboxes doesn't line up nicely in recent versions of amaroK, not sure I can do anything about it. I may remove it.

Changelog:

1.1: Changed background to "fixed". This means that when you scroll, the background doesn't move. I think it fits better.

Some credit has to go to jmiahman. Most of the CSS was modified from his Metabar theme, and both PNGs used came from the same theme too (although head.png had to be gimped a bit).

Do you have any suggestions for stuff that should change? I'm wondering how I could improve the scoreboxes, especially the line to the left of them.

but (stupid question) how do you install it? I can only figure out how to change the context browser themes.

I have not themed anything except the context browser; the rest is just the KDE theme I use.

In the screenshot, I am using an excellent KDE QT style called Baghira, which you can find on KDE-Look if your distribution doesn't package it (Gentoo does).

It is a MacOS X imitation, and has two main modes, brushed metal (like Quicktime or iTunes) and Aqua (like most of MacOS X), which you can use at the same time in different applications.

The screenshot shows amaroK using my CSS theme with the Baghira Brushed style.

I've not been able to get Amarok to use themes. I can install a new style from the Amarok Configuration, Appearance screen, Add New style, and can select it from the dropdown list, but this makes no difference to the way Amarok looks. I've tried about 5 very different themes but Amarok still looks identical. What am I doing wrong?

Amarok v 1.4.5 on KDE, I've tried it with all three options for colour scheme and with icon scheme turned on and off, but it still looks the same.
