Submitted:  Dec 28 2005
Updated:  Feb 5 2006

Description:

Little tool for lazy peoples, to visually work with avi files.
It can change fourcc and can accept a command line argument: filepath of the
avi.
Designed for seamless migration from win
apps Gspot and Fourcc changer .
With bash string parser removed should now works fine in any distro.

Tested working only in Gentoo/ KDE3.5.0 .
Reported working in Kubuntu 5.10 (KDE 3.5).

INSTALLATION:
remove any old AviUtils file from ~/.kde/share/apps/konqueror/servicemenus.
Then put the content of the archive (except readme.txt) into
~/.kde/share/apps/konqueror/servicemenus to have it as service-menu for avi files.

(P.S.: ~/ is your home folder......)

REQUIRES: Transcode (Avinfo optional for better scanning, Avidemux(2) optional
for remove-packed-bitstream function, useful for tabletop players)

Please report bugs (and report succesful
installs, I need more feedback)

Changelog:

v2.0: Removed some obsolete
initialization lines.(Needed only if
you where experiencing the "unknown funcion group:Timer7" error at startup)

v1.9: Built more robust codec detection, unchangeable codecs can't be changed anymore,
warning (with codec name) for unrecognized codecs.(check first screen)

v1.8: No bugfix since no bugs were reported (bugsfree???), just removed the
delay-before-scanning that was introduced in 1.4 for better compatibility,
(is less than 200 ms so 1.7 users can dealy update if not considered annoying...),
and added a readme file in the package(at last!).

v1.7: Sorry for wrong package in 1.6.
This is right package and interface was
cleaned and is more compact now.
This should be "final" release for some time, I'll do only debug now.

v1.6: Reunified version (needed to name it AviUtils3k to state this is most
updated one).
Removed bash initscript cause bug.
Removed bash parsing cause distro specific.
Added option to use avinfo tool.
Added option to use both tcprobe and avinfo for more/better scan of avi file.
Other misc bugfixes.

Wow! I wish to thank peoples that vote
"good" this little app/script.
(high downloads is caused also by
updates... sorry for this but for
compatibility I needed to insert
more than 10 scripts to avoid "nested if
kommander bug"...)
So if anyone has the need or an idea of
which utility kde might need to be more
user-friendly please post here, if is
doable in kommander I'll try to do.

works perfect in Kanotix 2005-RC4. Needs kommander to be installed first.

If I clik on continue it shows correct information codec.

Thanks for this app ;)

 Sound Recorder pleas

Hi,

could you please make a frontend to "sox" sound recording which could directly record mp3,wav,ogg and play too.

Example of such application is FLRec

flrec is just a very good frontend for sox. if you run flrec (binary works without any libraries) from konsole/xterm you can see the commands.

please see: http://www.matteolucarelli.net/flrec/index_en.htm

i'd really appreciate a good KDE recorder. thanks.

Hum, interesting, I'll try to start it
in the downtimes (it will require some
days to understand all sox parameters,
then I'll start with an alpha release)

I was just checking for existant apps
and I found Krecord, by you.....
I can't understand why you're asking me a
recording gui when you're programming a recording app..... should I make it
somewhat different or what?
