 i feel...

i must comment, not on your theme, but a common annoyance that i find in some themes posted here.

this is the output of du (disk usage) on your theme.

355K gtk-2.0/
133K gtk-2.0/.xvpics/
339K metacity-1/
149K metacity-1/.xvpics/

almost half of the size of your theme comes from unnecessary files. let's not forget icons/iconrc~ either. it's great that so many of you guys take time to make themes for the community, but it would be nice to see a little more care put into releasing these themes.

this is not directed only at you. i hope some of the other themers will also take this into consideration as well.

as for the theme itself, the gtk part is a bit much for me. the mcity theme looks quite nice though, i'd like to see a version that takes it's color from gtk.

I agree...I disable xvpics and do my best to clean up as much as possible since most of my stuff is resources intensive to begin with. Thx for saying something to all of us! Reminders are good!

 Very nice

Hmmm beautiful... looks like I'll be replacing ReLuna-Bluetiful with this.

I was messing around with the reversed light-blue version of the AmigaOS4 window controls a while ago, but not having any experience with themes, decided I'd bitten off more than I could chew, and shelved it.

Aitvo, do you mind if I use your theme as a base to substitute your version with the reversed gfx.
I'll email you the end result so the decision to post the theme and credit remains with you.
(I've already got the gfx stripped out of the original screenshots, so all I gotta do is trim to your sizes)

Thanks Aitvo.

ps. By 'reversed' I mean that the shading made it look like the window control was convex instead of concave.

Something you could play with for example, with the title-bar.png in GIMP put the darkest and lightest colors in the fg an bg using the color picker. Next, count down 2 pixels from the top left corner, then select 11 down, and the complete width across with the rectangle selection tool. Then select fill with gradiant, choosing the FG to BG gradient, shaped bi-linear. Select the center top of the selection in the image, drag to the bottom of the selection and let go. That will fill half with the fg to bg. To reverse, select from the top of the second pixel up from the bottom select 10 up, similar to before. Follow the same steps as before with the gradient tool, only dragging from the bottom upwards to the top of the selection line.

You probably know GIMP so my little how-to may be pointless, but I hope it's helpful. What you were trying to do sounded really interesting so I thought I'd try to make the concave effect just to the titlebar png to see how it could look the way you were thinking it. It's actually really cool, I look forward to seeing the final version!

Thanks for the tips Aitvo.

The 3d effect on my gfx is pretty much pixel perfect in relation to yours, except my shadows in bottom-left, right was back-to front in relation to yours. (Hard to describe)

Plus I've had to add a few pixels to my toolbar/shade slices to match your height.

Hopefully I'll have time to finish this weekend.

Great... If the original was released as GPL. This is copyrighted work. You need to ask for permission by the author(s). Don't upload/download illegal work.
