inkscape
Jul 4 2008  on content Metalized

How is it that this file was created by inkscape but inkscape refuses to open it? Does anyone else have this problem?

I'm sorry, I still don't understand the use case for this; why do you need to see only one part of the window? Why not just ignore the part of the window that your not using?

its actullly pretty simple, you just loop mount a folder in the thumb drive (or the whole thumb drive) to a "home" folder and then press alt-ctrl-backspace to restart kdm. It should "discover" your usb session and use your usb as a home folder; but be careful, using a usb drive in this way is a sure way to burn it out.

And there is no way to get root privilges using this method.

oh, another thing; in trunk youtube videos go full screen properly now, but not in the kubuntu packages... kubuntu packages kinda suck. Its getting to the point where I might just run the complied versions.

if you just want to view youtube videos outside of a konqueror windows, that can be done... I'm not sure how, but a flash movies are viewed through a wrapper called nspluginviewer. Look it up.

As for taking qt widgets and redirecting them to other windows, that would have to be something that is either possible with qt or not possible. Right now, I don't that's the case.

Maybe it could be done with kwin, but I don't think that its something that people are really interested in. Why do you want to do this anyway?

Little white gap
Aug 22 2007  on content 'CylonMinimal' Window Decoration for KDE

Just an annoyance... for me, there is a little white gap between the minimize and maximize buttons. Doesn't seem to matter how i configure it. This is different from your screen shot. I'm using all three buttons... i tried with and without spacers, same story.

Aug 21 2007  on content Copy / Move - Disk Full ? Unable to Copy

Well, I know this is a tall order and it should have been in the works months ago to make it for kde 4.0 (but theres always 4.1)

However, if we stipulate that all programs that are moving large amounts of data around the computer are kde-freindly programs, then the programs could collectively keep track of how much space they intend to write. Now, this is not a guarentee, but its a nice feature. I think that the dialog should pop up first when dolphin detects that there is not enough space, and have 3 options:

--Try anyway
--Wait until I appear to have enough space
--Give up

Then, when a file transfer is in progress and it appears that its not going to complete, dolphin would put up a similar dialog. I'm not sure if I like the idea of a roll back... theres an element of risk of data loss... but we'll see.
