more comments
Apr 6 2004  on content KXDocker with REAL transpancy

I mistakenly pressed "Save"
Here are more things :

  • Provide some sort of README and INSTALL file:
A lack of a README file leaves the user hanging. I know this is open source, but one of the most important things about software programming is taking the users into account. Here you have left "clues" for us as to what to do.
  • Make your generic xml file, generic. You have hardcoded references to your own icon directories, which does not help me much. Isn't there a default directory you could use. Maybe, ~/.kde/share/icons or something.

  • Provide some instructions about the theme files you've included. I tried to modify the XML file, but without proper documentation I could only guess as to what each of the fields actually stood for.

I realize, the author of the program says he will not be reading the comments from the site and he'd rather read emails, but I thought other people might find this useful.

cheers

good but,

You've done a nice job, but I think your project still needs a lot of polish. The zooming is very unsmooth, and the bouncing effect is quite slow.

I know, this all sounds like negative criticism, but I think every good app has its weak points. You're on the right track though.

good job.

Re: Compile error

I don't know why, but after downloading kxdocker-0.3 it compiles fine.
But I have a problem with the program itself. Image zooming is not smooth at all, and is very choppy. Is there a setting that I have to fix in the xml file?

Compile error
Feb 28 2004  on content KXDocker with REAL transpancy

I'm comipiling on slackware 9.1 with kde 3.2 and qt 3.2.3 and I'm getting an error :

xeplugin_animator.cpp: In member function `void
XEPlugin_Animator::xAnimateBounce(XGIcon*)':
xeplugin_animator.cpp:106: `usleep' undeclared (first use this function)
xeplugin_animator.cpp:106: (Each undeclared identifier is reported only once
for each function it appears in.)
make[2]: *** [xeplugin_animator.o] Error 1
make[2]: Leaving directory `/home/jackal/downloads/kxdocker/src'
make[1]: *** [all-recursive] Error 1
make[1]: Leaving directory `/home/jackal/downloads/kxdocker'
make: *** [all] Error 2

Any ideas?

cheers.

Re: Slackware 9.1 error
Feb 26 2004  on content KSambaPlugin

I just compiled it under slackware 9.1
here's my specs.

ksambaplugin version : 0.5

kde release : 3.2.0

qt version : 3.2.3

didn't have any problems.

Your error might be specific to your installation.
