| ![-](/img/trans.gif) | | Re: Re: Does not bel Jun 29 2004 on content Commie Wallpapers | The silent majority of Linux users who visit this site, I among them, come here for cool KDE artwork, not to be swamped with religious or political propaganda, or in your case vulgarity.
I speak for the open source community of which I am part, which is the silent majority that frequents this site to find artwork about KDE, not little trolls like you who only know how to toss out profanity because they're incapable of constructing a rational argument.
And by the way here's a quote for YOU:
"Profanity makes ignorance audible."

| ![.](/img/trans.gif) | | Re: Re: Does not bel Jun 27 2004 on content Commie Wallpapers | No, you misunderstand what I've said.
KDE Wallpapers certainly belong here, but so do other things Linux related. The mottoe of the site is eyecandy for your KDE-Desktop, which usually runs on linux/unix.
Therefore Linux-related artwork, including art for different distros and Unix flavors, as well Penguins, Dragons, etc. are relevant.
But communism has nothing to do with KDE. Christianity has nothing to do with KDE.
If we allow this work, then we must allow others to post pictures of George W. Bush, quotes from the Quran or Torah or other religious works, etc. This would be no more relevant than if I started posting up themes and window styles that only worked on Windows XP.
If I want comic book art, race car wallpapers, or pics of naked women, you can find them on another website related to those non-KDE topics.
This site focuses on *KDE* artwork. Let's keep it that way.

| ![.](/img/trans.gif) | | Does not belong here Jun 26 2004 on content Commie Wallpapers | I will reiterate what I have started in sub-threads.
KDE, Linux, etc. are all religiously and politically neutral. There are people who use Open Source who are liberals, conservatives, communists, capitalists, christians, muslims, jewish, atheists etc.
This website is about KDE and Linux/Unix art, not about dividing it's memberships into differing camps based on politics or religion. All of those subjects are irrelevant here and there are other forums for discussing it.
The only politics relevant to this community is the politics of free and open software.
Personally I'm a liberal, and I'm a Christian, but I am strongly against any submission of a wallpaper promoting free trade, or Jesus-is-the-Savior artwork. I would never submit or support such work because this is not the place for it.
I only ask that others also respect the neutrality of this site, which is what the silent majority of users desire.

| ![.](/img/trans.gif) | | Re: Re: Re: Re: I di Jun 26 2004 on content Commie Wallpapers | To answer your question: YES! CUBANS CANNOT EXPRESS THEMSELVES FREELY!
If you're referring to me, the reason why I can express myself on this site, or even VIEW this webpage, is because I live in exile in the United States.
My family back in Cuban however, would never be able to view this, or even weigh in with their opinions for or against Castro or communism.
Enjoy the fact that you're in a Western European nation where you have the freedom to express yourself and claim that communism is great. Because I would never be able to go to ANY communist nation ever in existence, and claim that capitalism, or a democratic government is better.
If you doubt that Cubans can express themselves freely, read the reports to the United Nations Human Rights commission, or Amnesty International. Just last year 75 people were arrested in Cuba, who were independent journalists, human rights activists, and leaders of movements seeking to bring democratic reforms to the island. Cubans cannot even travel freely within their own nation. For example darker skinned Cubans of African dissent from Camaguey and Oriente provinces cannot travel to Havana, and ALL regular Cubans are forbidden direct contact with tourists unless they work for government tourism industries.
Democracy and Capitalism have their faults, and while they don't preach monetary equality as communists do (but have never delivered except for equal poverty), they give ALL MEN freedom to *THINK* and *SPEAK* for themselves and their beliefs, something which all people living in free nations take too much for granted. |
| ![.](/img/trans.gif) | | Re: Re: I dislike... Jun 25 2004 on content Commie Wallpapers | Being Cuban, I have to disagree that castro is so popular... it's very easy to say someone's popular, when the one conducting the popularity polls controls what you see and hear, and is also holding a gun to your head.
I voted against these papers, not so much because I know communism is a failed economic system and a platform for dictators to preach, but mostly because there is *NO* connection between these political wallpapers and kde.
Since they contribute nothing to the KDE community, go post them elsewhere where they might welcome.
(This is just as bad as that Jesus guy who kept posting religious messages).

| ![.](/img/trans.gif) | | Content Changes? Dec 28 2003 on news Website Update | What about changes in the content system? IMHO these are more pressing and important than the look of the site.
There have been many suggestions made, such as being able to upload multiple files per project (so we don't end up with the same wallpaper submitted for 4 different sizes, and 10 different shades of colors), and other annoyances.
I personally would like to see a sidebar option where instead of "all but screenshots", I can see "all but wallpapers", since I dont' mind screenshots as much as the tons of wallpapers i have to wade through to get to the meat in this site.
Just a little constructive criticism from an adoring kdelook fan

| ![.](/img/trans.gif) | | Colors Dec 13 2003 on content Baghira | One of the things I really like about Mosfet's Liquid is the option for seperate colors, through his KControl panel.
Specifically, I like to make my tabs, sliders and buttons a different shade or color than the background window, but KDE styles seem to all use those.
Is there any way to configure different colors in Baghira, a la Mosfet? Could this be a new feature?
Thanks,
