QUALITY
Jan 27 2004  on Discussion

what happened to the quality posters on
kde-look, like baghira, plastik, rad8 and umicons? (my opinion blah blah blah)
(even bluechicken karamba, osXbar, liquid weather, ), OOo styles.

it's been crappy material for weeks now, with too many wallpaper onnanism (like the
100 different variations of the same wallpaper (w/o mentioninig names))

maybe there's a need for a new sidebar with pictures of _favorite features_ so that newcomers will see some quality work, and not be turned off by the surge of mediocrity? (a la deviantart)

debian package
Jan 1 2004  on content Baghira

i'm using debian (sid)
where can i find deb packages for the .m
release?
i've tried to use alien with the RH packages (seems to have the files in the
right places) - the apperance/theme entry for baghira exists, (with icon now!)
but not entry for style.

1. where are .deb files?
(saarlinux's link is now dead)
2. what rpm should i alien?

thanks in advance

fastest kde style?
Oct 22 2003  on Discussion

what is the fastest of kde's style?
(there is a difference beetween style, with my humble i815(laptop) graphics controller, its very noticeable.- especially liquid and keramic)

i think is thank .net and light2/3 are the fastest, what are your opinions/results?

kill wallpapers
Oct 16 2003  on Discussion

as a follow up for the "all but wallpapars" notes, why not ban wallpapers
althogether from this website? wallpapers may be considered as "genereal art" (i don't know the exact terms as english is not my primary language) and therefore may
not have a place in a "theme" based site such as this one.

possibile solutions:
1. post somewhere else, like deviantart.com (very good site imho)

2. create some kde-wallpapers-look-at-me
site for the great mass of wallpapers.
(maybe kde-what-does-gimp-do? ... ;))

3. make wallpapaers have a shorter life span- i.e. wallpapers that _fail_ to achive a score higher than 80 will be deleted.

4. ban it altogether. kill all wallpapers.

----
note:
those criteria may need to apply to screenshots as well, although sometimes you can get some nice design ideas for you desktop...
--
really really liked the icons ('specially gorilla, noia, umicons and the office 1.1 thingy)...
and some of the widget stuff

---------------------------------------
sorry if i've hurt someones feelings, i know you've all invested a lot of time and effort in your art etc etc (or maybe
not, i just don't want it to detiorate to a "free-speech" flame war, but i'll start the count down anyway.. :)

arab-israeli linux
Oct 14 2003  on content Arabic Unix Project (matrix)

in order to raise the flames
i therefore bring you...
some israeli AND arab linux site!

www.arabeyes.org
www.ivrix.org.il
www.lugps.org
http://www.hamakor.org.il/english.html
www.linux-kinneret.org

(dramatic drum roll)
go guess what belongs to whom!

..
i guess this will satisfy some of you..
(in the wrong meaning- because its yellow and irrelevant for this site)

Re: Re: my point of view
Mar 14 2003  on poll Is war agains Iraq the answer?

"That is if the US and the international community will be able to support iraq in the next years to come"
nobody said it will be easy..
(btw- i could emphazie russia as an example:
it _wasn't_ easy for them, but they are starting to get the hang of it)

but unfortunatly you may be right.
on the otherhand, claiming to take no action
on the notion that things are hard to do, is -as i believe - a very lazy at best(its not the word i want to use, don't remember the exact word- means being idle on the notion of "whats the use, bla bla bla??")

1)err.. hitler also tried to save europe from jews, blacks, eastern europeans, free thought, gypsies, homosexuals, crippled, retarted, democracies, and anyone else he didn't quite like.

2) the american faschit plot actually worked, eventually, when the former USSR citizenty realized they live in shit, and had a leader that actually took enough care to allow them to swim out of it (keep rowing! you're on the right track!)

3) nothing against brazilians, though.
