Tooltips
Sep 21 2006  on content Super Clickable Address Bar (SCAB :P )

I like the KIOSlave selector part the most. It should also have tooltips explaining each one, since some like "fish" aren't the most obvious names :)

Re: Whats wrong with NM?
Sep 8 2006  on content remote:/devices/

Also, why is this person using the GNOME network manager interface and not the lovely KDE one? Or is it a case of confusing the underlying technology, which is desktop-agnostic, with the interfaces, which are designed for GNOME and KDE respectively?

KNetworkManager works a treat for me too.

Re: little question
Aug 2 2006  on content Reload/Stop/Go button in "one"

Another way to do it would be as follows:

If the user has changed the contents of the location bar then present the "go" button, otherwise present the reload button.

If people want to use the "go" button on a blank page rather than just hitting enter, why wouldn't they also want it on a fully loaded web page, having typed in a new address? But then people might want to reload having changed the address, which my suggestion above wouldn't accommodate.

A smaller change would be to merge the stop/reload buttons, which Opera does.

What's different?
Mar 30 2006  on content kopete plugins system

I don't understand how this is any different to the current system, except that you would download and install plugins from a web site. Both for programmers and users, the current system is pretty modular and allows you to add and remove different messenger networks easily.

Can you explain the different a bit more clearly?

Re: Great Idea!
Mar 10 2006  on content "Save session as a file!"

How often do you reboot your PC before starting a new task? How many tasks do you have that require launching lots of different applications and returning them to the state you need?

I'm not so sure about the sessions-as-files idea, but proper session management is something all desktops really lack at the moment!

A diverse portfolio!
Mar 3 2006  on poll Energy source of the future

None of the above, or rather a combination of the above plus other choices, all coming together in a diverse (http://www.greenpeace.org.uk/climate/solution/index.cfm) and decentralised (http://www.greenpeace.org.uk/MultimediaFiles/Live/FullReport/7148.pdf) energy system.

For the UK, at least, nuclear is an expensive red herring. We can massively reduce our energy consumption, explot the massive potential of renewables, and decentralise our power system to make it far more efficient than the current redundant centralised system. Woking Borough Council cut their C02 emissions by 77% by slashing their energy usage and moving to renewables!

Very nice
Jan 13 2006  on content Tasks Info in Less Windows (mockup)

A great idea with some nice mockups for minimising tasks.

I also like the idea of files in Konqueror showing their status if they're being processed or used by some other application, though I'm not sure I like your method because it uses up a lot of space.

Re: Re: Re: apache gui
Dec 29 2005  on Discussion

If you can't install WebMin, you don't know how a database server like MySQL interacts with Apache (answer: not at all, except through CGI scripts written in PHP/Perl/Python/etc. and proxied scripts using Java/Python/Ruby/etc.), you think that Apache might have some options relating your MySQL database server (it doesn't), then it makes me wonder why you're running this server?

If it's being used by the public, and especially if it's visible on the internet, you really need to understand what you're doing otherwise you're going to open yourself to all kinds of security risks.

I'm not trying to be mean, but read up on some of these things before you start using them! A GUI that let you charge in and configure these things without understanding the software first would be a really bad thing.

License?
Dec 17 2005  on content Throbber: KDE Logo [CCW]

Why did you feel the need to release it 'all rights reserved'?

It would be much better if you could release it under a free license, preferably the GPL, which I believe the standard KDE icon sets use?
