KDE rules
Jun 29 2004  on poll Which KDE app do you miss most under an other OS?

KDE since 1.0 made me to stick with linux. Each time i run windowz, i miss middle-click and tab-browsing, kicker panels, kwriter configurability, amarok playlist managebility -- all found for free (in both meanings of this word). KMail(Kontact) is probably not the best mailer(groupware), but it becomes better and better every release! And -- while integrated with KDE, it is the best solution available! K3B is great!

Under both systems i use SIM, OpenOffice.org (in SuSE 9.1 it is quite KDE-friendly), mozilla, TeX (Kile rules).

both systems have Matlab available, but now i am thinking about swithing to SciLab.

-- basicly -- that is all i need!

Offtopic: why the Java GUI is MUCH fater in Windows than in Linux ?

SuSE 9.1
Jun 21 2004  on poll Which X-Server are you using?

SuSE 9.1 by default offers XFree86 4.4RC2 -- the last one with "proper" license. On their FTP they offer X.ORG server in RPMs for SuSE 9.1, so i downloaded it, installed it, my ATI drivers worked with it just fine. They say that they consider a possibility to select it as the default one in the future.

Yeah! that's right!!!

AFAIK kopete's ICQ part was taken from SIM some time ago.

well -- sim now supports multi-protocolness as well -- but it has better support for non-latin languages (especaly russian)

playlist rules !!!
Mar 17 2004  on content Amarok

there is one think in Amarok which make it rule: the PLAYLIST!!!!

But still, i lack two things, compating to XMMS: the equalizer and winamp2x skin support.
the first one is importrant (equalizers which are avaialble from arts-plugins are horrible in use), the latter one is just a mere whichlist :-)

This rocks!
Mar 4 2004  on content KolourPaint

This program MUST replace the KPaint in the kde-graphics!

KPaint -- suxx!
KolourPaint -- rules! the best Paintbrush-analog for linux yet.

not correct question
Jan 19 2004  on poll Where is MS Windows better than KDE/Linux?

There are several points where windows is better than Linux.
These are Hardware-Support and Application-Availability.

I wont say that windows is Easier than KDE/Linux in general -- only in fields related to hardware support (such as mounting floppies and USB-flashdrives) -- for example konq is much more easier and comfortable than IE.

dont know about cost/benefit,
look and feel, customisability, features are better in KDE/Linux.

ease-of-development in windows is unity of platform. in KDE/LINUX is QT :-)

Same about support: everyone uses WIndows, and even your heighbour can give you an advise, and regardess the great variety of Linux species, community support in Linux is no less helpfull -- though it is available only in mail-lists.

Re: NEW APPS.KDE

What you think about taking KDE-LOOK as a basis?

it alreeady features good categorization system,
for every application there will be a place to put the screenshots, changelogs, and small application-dedicated forum!

just replace the design a little bit -- and you are done!

Wallpapers
Jul 16 2003  on Discussion

People,

Dont you think there are too many of artificial or hand-drawn wallpapers in our collection? I do respect the mastership of the original artists, they do a grat job, but we have almost none of photographic or photo-based files -- people who work in design know, how much good photos cost, and how hard is it to find some pictures of the things you want. Well, actually, i think it not necessary to collect all possible photos here, but how about some KDE-LOOK themed pictures? (like, with gears, or chineese dragons, lizards, pengvins, etc).
