Almost there!
Mar 25 2007  on content KDE DVDAuthor Wizard

Great application, and huge thanks for making it *almost* trivial to create a DVD.

I have a couple of problems maybe you can help me with. I'm using four mpeg2 files I built from DVB streams; I used ProjectX to demux them and mplex to re-multiplex to ".mpg" files that each look fine, in that they play well in Kaffeine with nicely sync'ed audio. So far so good.

Using KDE DVDAuthor Wizard I made a nice menu, and got as far as creating the DVD structure on disk, but now the problems start. The message asks if I would like to test the DVD by playing and when I say yes it fails because it doesn't find xine. But xine is installed:
mark@mest40:~$ xine --version
This is xine (X11 gui) - a free video player v0.99.4.
(c) 2000-2004 The xine Team.

No matter, I find I can play it using Kaffeine to open any of the .vob files.

Sadly the wizard function to create an .iso doesn't seem to work. I click the button and nothing happens. No messages either.

So I use k3b to burn the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders to DVD-R (or DVD+R, I tried both!), and the resulting disk won't play on the PC, it won't play in a Panasonic DVD-recorder (disk not recognized), but it does play in another el-cheapo supermarket DVD player; however there's no sound.

This is all very frustrating since it's so close to being exactly what I need. Any advice or suggestions for this total newbie?

I'm running Kubuntu 6.1, fully up-to-date I believe. Happy to supply any diagnostic info that's needed.
