aterm does it
Jan 13 2003  on content fade all but top window: possible?

aterm (an xterm/konsole replacement) has a very simple version of this, that I enjoy very much. You can specify the text-color that is used when the aterm hes the focus and when it hasn't. When I've got 3-4 aterms running I see at once which one currently has the focus.

X is not bad enough.
Sep 12 2002  on Discussion

X won't go. It's simply not broken enough. For 99% of the real work you don't need the performance of a graphics-and-windowing-system-in-the-kernel. Only non-important stuff needs the features that X is missing: Eyecandy, Games and other non-serious stuff.
As long as noone produces a system that has significant advantages over X when used for simple stuff like a file browser, a Text Editor, an IDE or a Mail-Reader X will stay. Simply because it works.
Another "problem" is that OpenGL now is quite performing, so even games don't have any more problems with X. Only games that don't use any kind of 3D effects (and this nummer is somewhere near 0 this year) are slowed down by X.

X is great and will stay. Personally I'd prefer something in the way of Berlin (http://berlin.sf.net), but I doubt that they will keep up with X-development.

not too original
Jul 25 2002  on content Aqua Fusion Icon Theme 0.4

Hy,

'though I like the look of them they are not all too original. At least the Excel-Icon looks an awful lot like the Mac OS X Excel Icon, MSIE and MSN Messanger are also copied (but modified of course). I don't want to say that this is a bad thing, but this icon theme has other qualities than pure originality. I love the cdwriter_mount icon, which seems new enough.

.NET
Jun 9 2002  on poll What´s the best KDE 3.0 style

I have to admit, that I like the visual style of .NET (the original), but the .NET style in KDE isn't really a good copy. KDE.NET doesn't look bad, but it's far from the original. But of course we got Keramik, so we don't need the MS-Stuff ;-)
