Good to see Plymouth
Mar 24 2009  on content Aliens Love Carbon for Fedora's Plymouth

I'm glad to see some Plymouth stuff on here. I sent a message to Frank(one of the KDE-Look maintainers) about adding a Plymouth Plugin subsection under bootsplash, but haven't gotten a response yet :/ Maybe you can contact him or someone else on this matter in a better way.

As far as the splash, it certainly looks good from the pic, and I don't even have to run it to know what it will look like as I am familiar with the spinfinity plugin. Although I don't see any reason to attach the whole source tree(especially since other people using plymouth most likely have their own tree). Since this is simple an image replacement, I'd suggest just giving instructions on how to set spinfinity as the default plugin and simply provide a package that replaces the images since they are not compiled into the .so file but loaded at boot-time.

Re: How can I see the progress?

Remove quiet from the defoptions line in grub as well as the kernel lines in each grub option. Removing splash will give you all of the text, but it will also completely bypass the usplash.

This is what my hardy partition grub menu.lst looks like while showing the verbose usplash text:

## additional options to use with the default boot option, but not with the
## alternatives
## e.g. defoptions=vga=791 resume=/dev/hda5
# defoptions=splash vga=788

title Ubuntu 8.04.1, kernel 2.6.24-23-generic
root (hd0,4)
kernel /boot/vmlinuz-2.6.24-23-generic root=UUID=ccc53cb6-7583-4513-9e54-1130b40a0e51 ro splash vga=788
initrd /boot/initrd.img-2.6.24-23-generic

Whats the font you used for the africa text? It does add a nice touch.

text color
May 4 2008  on content deep_dive-theme

The text color is specified in the C file. They correspond to the color pallete index of the image. Hope that helps some.

my bad
Apr 28 2008  on content deep_dive-theme

It does work with
sudo usplash -c -x 800 -y 600

although when sending usplash_write messages to it, it looks pretty ugly. The colors from the eft-theme.c example as well as text box placement need adjusted.

Isn't there a way to edit my comments after posting? :(

Doesn't work
Apr 28 2008  on content deep_dive-theme

Provide the source code along with it, might help.

I copied the .so to /usr/lib/usplash/usplash-theme-kubuntu.so

and then did
sudo usplash -c

and all I get is a blank screen. Did you make sure the image was 256 colors/8 bit? The image you have posted looks pretty intense.
