But the idea it's good, having a sort of sync service for music video and contacts, to a mobile device, maybe also some sort of sync services integrated with the file manager to do remote backups

Note that you could also use the apn (web.omnitel.it in our case)instead of #99**1 in the number form

For phone connectivity you could have a look at kmobiletools (wich main developer it's also italian) and at the kdebluetooth module (don't know how to deal with irda)

OSX Does it
Mar 5 2006  on content Make KDE truly language independent

in a very simple manner, using an hidden .localized file reading that file finder shows Desktop Documents Images etc etc folder localized in the user language.
I don't think that is an effective way of working, it spreads confusions, since if you open a terminal you still see directory names in the original language, better stick with english and use simple words for folders and kioslaves

Feb 12 2006  on content Fullscreen KMenu

well my idea it's simple, show the menu as an osd (take the Apple-tab layout for reference graphic) in fullscreen with most used applications on top (four or five) and categories following (internet media, etc etc) when you click on a category it expands showing applications, if you click again it closes
I've a specific design in my mind of this(for example the osd will be rectangular, so the expanding effect will go start from a corner of the selected icon going to the opposite up/down corner basing on it's position) maybe I'll post some mockup later

Feb 9 2006  on content Fullscreen KMenu

I know what exposè is, since I'm also a MAC user :-)
But it's a different thing, exposè manages windows, not applications launch.
Here it's a proposal to make the application menu something like and OSD (On Screen Display) displayed by a keystroke or a button

And yes, I've tried expose clones and they are quite crappy, let's wait for Xgl instead

yes
Feb 8 2006  on content Fullscreen KMenu

yes, why the menu must be tied to panels, it can just appear fullscreen like dashboard or in a floating, semi-trasparent widget on top of everything (still looking at apple like their alt-tab or osd) called by a keystroke or a button, or a mouse gesture

issues raised
Jan 24 2006  on content Hiding the File Menu

About 2 issues raised here:
menubars too long
they shouldn't exist :-) but menubars could be placed on two levels increasing the height of the bar
Actually menu can't be placed on the window bar:
This is true, actually kwin handles window borders but this could be solved in two ways, giving the application the ability to handle window borders (OSX should do this i think...from what I see) or giving kwin the ability to show menus and buttons

shadow needed
Jan 19 2006  on content KDE 4 Plasma Bar

It's very cool, I saw the animation, and seems good.
I think that unselected entries needs to be greyed out in order to gain focus on the choosen element (it's difficult to describe it I know) so if you choos multimedia other section should be greyed and unselectable until you close the active section, for example by clicking inside the circular area (outside should close the entire kmenu)
