it seems you have another theme "obsidian with panel" included. that gtkrc file is including other .rc files and comes with a load of pixmaps included, but the rc files do not seem to be included and the pixmaps are unused.
is this intended?

short, offensive answer: just stop talking please.
long, diplomatic answer: in the beginning, having still that consumer whore mindset of a longtime windows user, i would have preferred if the gimp had a different name, something that sounded slick and futuristic. however, the longer i used the gimp, the more i liked the name, and the more dull "futuristic" and "slick" sounds to me.
here is why. the gimp is a creative, subversive little creature that carries magical powers. since it is a fantasy creature, it deserves an impish name. the ways of the gimp are not always easy to understand, but once you have unlocked its secrets and established a working flow, you understand that you'd rather want to be with a fantasy creature than a shop.
other fantasy creatures on my desktop: the gnome, the firefox, the thunderbird.

actually it is. your style recommends a color to metacity.... seems you kept some bogus value for inactive windows - so its impossible to use any other metacity style without messing it up.
just guessing.
