Thank you so much for such an awesome applet!
Apr 9 2016  on content Event Calendar

I had to log in just to vote up this applet! This is something that I have been missing since the KDE4 days, a calendar that shows events! But yours does even more than that!

You are awesome sir, and I thank you.

I got the script to work. It was a missing dependent on my part. Forgot to install a certain plasma Dev program.

I upvoted your applet. It works well.

404 Page Not Found

Trying to download the plasma applet took me to a 404 Page Not Found. Also using the install script you provided failed to install the applet. Perhaps the two are connected?

Feb 21 2009  on poll How do you like KDE 4.2?

Greetings,

Some are going to hate KDE 4 no matter what, for what ever reasons. And some are going to experience bad problems with kde4.2.

However I do not expect that to be the norm. 4.2 has been getting very high raves out there, and for me it now surpasses 3.5. On my 4.2 desktop using the highly configurable plasma panels I have two panels on the right side that auto hide (one on top, one on bottom) with the top having play wolf and the bottom having yawp. I have an auto hiding panel on the left side with my desktop folders, and an auto hiding panel on the bottom as my app docker. The top is graced with a constantly present panel for my lancelot launcher, multi-rowed task bar, systray with auto hiding, pager, and digital clock. These are all completely transparent thanks to the bare naked plasma theme so that my slide show desktop art can shine through. Now the effect is when I am say using Konqueror to browse the web in full screen I can with a simple wiggle of my mouse in any direction of the desktop bring out the panel with the app i want to see.. say to see the weather for example, and don't have to go back to desktop to see Liquid Weather as i did in 3.5.

Now the reason I described all of that is because for me 4.2 is wonderful. I have been able to make the desktop work how I want it to work and not the other way around. I sure as heck couldn't have done the same things and get the same look in 3.5, and I have tried.

Now some people are experiencing problems with their 4.2 and immediately say it must be kde 4.2 itself. This is folly. Most of the problems comes from faulty use of the distribution's repo of 4.2 or faulty implementation of 4.2 by the distro, and not 4.2 itself. Case in point, on mine (running kubuntu 8.10 btw) knetwork-manager works fine. I get good wireless and wired connection. My wife is running the same (kubuntu 8.10 kde 4.2) on her desktop and depends on wireless, and knetwork manager works for her. However on her laptop which is running sabayon, I had to replace knetwork manager with Wicd for her to have wireless. So if you are having trouble with wireless, perhaps you should try Wicd. On my desktop I occasionally get ark crashes, but neopunk is running fine and so are everything else. My wife's desktop is have the disappearing font issue, but only for pop-up notification windows, and everything else is working fine. I had to disable neopunk on her laptop. I have full fledge desktop effect on my desktop, they don't work on my wife's desktop (but her desktop is considerably older... ) yet they work fine on her laptop.

Now for some people they may never get a perfect working KDE 4.2 experience, despite the distro they try, and in some cases (like with kubuntu) you have to do a little work at first to iron out some of the kinks in their use of 4.2, or like in sabayon replace some apps (knetworkmanager with wicd). One distro does this by default (the Arch Linux Chakra project). I have also been hearing problems elsewhere with knetworkmanager, but I haven't experienced them on my desktop. But as I stated at the very beginning of this long comment, I do not think it is KDE 4.2's fault, I think the problems lie elsewhere. As for me, 4.2 is all I could have ever asked for, and more. For me, it does finally surpass 3.5.

Thanks for your time...

.
